  1. Frustration with System Image restore

I have 5 drives in my PC, four of which are 1Tb and have lots of my video work on them. The 5th drive was a 500gb SSD drive he SSD was the Boot drive

This drive hung whilst working, and refused to allow the system to boot up again whenever the drive was connected. I tried the SSD in my sons PC and he had the same problem when connected it stopped his PC booting up

I had a Windows 10 recovery DVD which I had made previously, so successfully booted up and went on to find the System Image recovery section quite easily.

    Then the problems started

    1. The box format and repartition disks is greyed out - I dont want to accept that as I do not want to lose all my data on the other drives.

In the first instance I tried deselecting those drives, and used a further drive I had installed which had the System Image in.

This was found and I followed the instructions through BUT ended with the error message "windows did not find any disk it can use for recreating volumes present"

    2. Undeterred I copied all the data from one of my drives, so I was now left with the drive with the Image on it, and a drive with the video files deleted. I again ensured the other drives were not selected

This time I got the error message -system cannot find file specified"

What I do not understand here is the setup procedure found this Image file itself !!

    3. Again undeterred I copied another System Image file over onto the drive in question, replacing the previous one used. Again the image was found BUT again I got the same error - system cannot find file specified

    4. As a last resort I copied the Image onto one of my other drives and removed my videos from that one also - BUT it made no difference still got the same errors

I'm now at a complete loss as to what to do next - my system image files are being found without problem, but I then get the error messages.

    Any ideas anybody - thanks

    :)

Could you elaborate on the Nick's Data? I've already done a Sys Img to G: drive.
What is a Belarc Advisor audit?

Rebooting now to see if drives stay the same.

    Frustration with System Image restore

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.
