Windows 10: Full-featured trackpad middle click

It's 2024 and I've come to ask the same question as 2022, and 2020, as was asked here:https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/full-featured-trackpad-middle-button/a85db5d4-345e-452e-bda7-728fcc46ba7eWe know we can map a three-finger tap to be a middle click. This does not enable middle click-and-drag.As they mentioned, any 3D software that utilizes a middle click and drag for manipulating shapes is then useless on the go without a proper mouse, and any other app that requires same.How do we enable the ability to middle click-AND-DRAG on a Windows laptop with a trackpad?Other OS's

There is a setting to turn three-finger tap/click to act as a middle click. But it's awkwardly castrated which twists my head many years. Ok, I can click - why can't I drag???

This makes any use of a CAD software, or even Resolve, anything which needs a basic but proper middle mouse button to work simply impossible without a standalone mouse. THAT. IS. IDIOTIC.

As a user with a tunnel syndrome (mouse usage hurts my hand) I always use trackpad, even working with CAD. I always had such option on basic Synaptics trackpads. And now - I can't.

****? Would this ever be solved finally so we get a PROPER middle mouse button?

Of course, it's Windows precision drivers trackpad, nowadays they are all the same in that regard. So that's why I ask about it here, as it's Windows design fault.

Talking about the setting you point me to - seems you didn't really get the point. I seek for FULL-FEATURED middle click, with CLICK AND DRAG ability, the settings you talk about does what isn't enough - it only allows to CLICK, no more. And THIS is the problem!

It sounds like you are unable to enable middle-click on your current touchpad on Windows 10. Sorry for the inconvenience you are facing.

As far as I know, if the touchpad on your laptop is a precision touchpad, you can easily enable the middle-click in Windows 10 under Start > Settings > Devices > Touchpad > Three-finger gestures section.
