I'm pretty sure most banks have got mobile sites, couldn't you do your banking on that, I just went to my bank on my Windows phone and they've got a perfectly good mobile site, I'm sure I could use that, but I do all my banking on my PC and tablets.

It's not just about the apps, if that was the case Android wouldn't have gotten anywhere either. As far as the iPhone goes, it's mainly a sheep mentality that makes it popular, how do I know, I spend a lot of time studying sheep, I mean Apple users. America is Microsofts problem, because of all the Apple lovers, most other countries have reasonable Windows phone numbers.

All my phones have been Android until just recently and have bought a couple of cheap Windows phones to test Windows 10, I think MS is on the right track, hopefully. They don't need a million apps just a few more popular ones and they're there, as long as they bring out decent phones. Apple isn't that far in front.

I appreciate this wasn't aimed at me but I have to clarify anyway; I only use an iPhone because it simply works for what I want/need. I did switch to a Sony Xperia a couple of years ago (loved the handest) but the ridiculous, insurmountable issues with Google account led to me selling it four months later and going back to iPhone. That was the last time I'll use Android, didn't particularly like the OS and the aforementioned problem was more than just a deal breaker.

For what it's worth I would love a Windows phone, but while it doesn't carry the apps I use on a regular basis it's a no go.

Possibly/probably. But that means I'd have to carry my physical secure key around with me to generate a login code every time I wanted to login. That's the beauty of the app, you don't need the secure key.

I didn't know banks actually had physical keys, you mean like a car key or something.

Ive had a few Android phones, never had a glitch over the last 6 years, I cant see any major difference between IOS and Android except that you can do a lot more with Android.

Sort of, if I want to log into online banking I have to enter my username, password then generate a unique six-digit keycode to enter before it lets me in. The app bypasses that by using username and password only.

To be fair I don't have the inclination to play around with the Android OS, I have a Droid Player and I'm the same with that.

Looks like just one more step to the app, but hey to each his own, I've always used Android, looked at iPhones, never liked them, iPads yes, but now MS is surpassing those, so probably no more iPads. I've already got Surface and HP Stream.

It is only one more step but I don't want to carry the secure key around with me which I would need to to be able to perform the extra step. I explained all this in post #31. I'm not being pedantic here, there are bonafide reasons I use the app.

That's why I said, to each his own, everyone has certain reasons why they use a product, like I said I always used Android, not because of the Apps but because of the challenge, when I first went onto Android there were only a handful of apps, but I could see that it was going to be a good OS for Phones, not so much for Tablets even though I bought one of those as well.

My sincere apology to you, sir. I assumed you didn't like the Windows phone. That got neither of us anywhere.

In reading through you last posts I can see where that would be important to you. Hopefully for you your bank will introduce a Windows version of the app in the near future. The best of luck to you. *Smile

That’s a fallacy. Please quit spreading your fudge. The “heart of the movement” is MS products and services. Sound familiar? It’s not all about apps or lack thereof. That’s just a part of the whole plan.

Reference to “Metro” is outdated. It’s called Modern presently. If referring to MS apps from the Store they are simply called Store apps. The Modern look and tiled menus are just a few features of the Modern UI. Touch is another which was introduced in Windows 7 mainly for the introduction of Windows Phone 7 and for Windows on pads. This was long before Windows 8 series was introduced. The Store, its apps, and WinRT all introduced in 8. MS started to set the stage for WinRT in 7. Sinofsky, his team, and the board of directors had already devised a business plan of what was to come. That plan entailed “products and services” which includes a unified OS to run across multiple devices. An API so to run Store apps across all devices as well.

The tiled menus with live tiles is just one forerunning aspect to gain personal data quickly at a glance all being able to be shuffled with personal preference. Much better than the dead icon IMO. One needs not open an app, program, or browser to gain basic data. If interested in gaining more, then open one up. Time saving IMO. Arrange them in and order of apps most used and/or data one wants to see. Size the tiles as desired, which has been tweaked more so in the new Windows 10 Start menu.

Name me any app in the Apple store or in Google Play and 9 times out of 10 in this space of time I’ll match an app to an equivalent or the app itself. Like I stated earlier, more are being added weekly. If you or others want to wait around that’s fine, but IMO it only adds to the problem, not the solution. Keep using your “other” phones if even you have one. It’s, of course, your choice. Really no skin off the noses with those of us that have Windows phone.

No, it’s not “rocket science” as long as all the facts are truly stated. Seems to me you come on here pretty much anonymous being anti-MS with their new approach in computing only to spread your fudge of misinformation. Not much in your forum profile and nothing in your system specs for those to see what you use. If perhaps not Windows PC, a Windows phone, or if not a phone at all, then how would you truly know without any experience with it? Or do you just go by what others say or the press state?

A few on this forum show all signs of a spammer with one-liners or very short posts with nothing to back it up. However, a majority here are indeed partaking in the learning process with solutions and not participating in the problem. That’s why I enjoy this forum for the most part. But just as with anything, though, there are a few “features” or apps I dislike. I simply uninstall them to put on my ignore list by passing over their posts and not answering to them, for it seems to be a waste of time. Might as well talk to a wall while watching the paint dry. “<sheesh>”.

Have a good day, sir, mam, or miss. Not really sure what gender I addressed. Good luck to you. *Smile
