2 days ago i was playing cities skylines and noticed that for no reason and this hasn't happened before but the game was running at a lower fps out of nowhere. I then opened CK3 and noticed the same thing after a few minutes. I did a complete system reboot but it's still happening. Care to ask for details but I'm stummped. I am using Windows 10 with a intelr coretm i7-9700f cpu @ 3.00ghz, 3000 mhz, 8 cores, 8 logical processors CPU and aslo included my CPU stats when my game started becoming unplayable.

Windows 10 1903-Performance issue while playing games

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing performance issues while using Windows 10 1903. We will certainly look into this for you.

The latest release of Windows 10 is 1909. You may want to keep your computer up to date and check.

Resolved issues in Windows 10, version 1909 and Windows Server, version 1909

To check if Windows is up-to-date with the latest updates you can go to
Start , and select Settings > Update and security > Check for updates. Install any updates and reboot your device if required.

However, as you have mentioned that you are facing issues while playing games, we can try a few steps and check.

    Method 1: Perform Clean Boot

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.
This is similar to starting Windows in Safe Mode, but provides you more control over which services and programs run at startup to help you isolate the cause of a problem. You may refer
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Once the computer is in Clean Boot state, please perform steps mentioned in the section “How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot” in the same article.

Note: Please refer the section Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting to boot the computer in to normal mode after troubleshooting.

Method 2: Delete and re-install updated Display Driver

    • Press Windows + R key to open
      Run
      window.
    • Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
    • In Device Manager, expand Display Adapters.
    • Right click on the display driver and select Uninstall
    • Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device.
    • Click on OK.
    • Download the latest display driver from manufacturer website and install the driver.

Games suffering big performance issues after playing for 10 minutes

new pc with windows 10 crashing and restarting 10 minutes of playing games

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that the computer crash while playing games. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    1. Does this issue occur while playing a specific game?
    2. What is the make and model of the computer?
    3. Are you aware of any changes made prior to this issue?
    4. Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

If you are receiving a Blue Screen error, I would suggest you to share the dump files so that we can analyze them and get to the root cause of the issue. To share the files Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump, upload the files to OneDrive and share the OneDrive link.

Ideally, the best way to troubleshoot Blue Screen error is to boot the computer into Safe Mode, which will help in determining whether the issue is caused by a third-party service/driver. However, as you have mentioned that you are receiving the blue screen error while playing games, we cannot boot the computer into Safe Mode, since most of the games will not run in Safe Mode.

Let us try other alternate solutions and check if that helps in resolving the issue.

I would suggest you to perform a clean boot on the computer, and then try playing the games and check if you receive Blue Screen error.

Performing a clean boot will start the computer with minimal set of drivers and programs, to determine whether a background program is causing the issue. Some of the Startup programs will not load after performing a clean boot on the computer. However, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after finishing the troubleshooting.

To perform a clean boot on the computer refer to the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

If performing a clean boot fixes the issue then, please refer to the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot to check which program is causing the issue.

Note: Please refer the section Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting to boot the computer in to normal mode after troubleshooting.

You may also want to refer the steps in the article Troubleshoot blue screen errors.

    Update Display driver:

You may try updating the display driver and check if that makes a difference.

Please refer the steps mentioned below to update display drivers:

    1. Press Windows logo key + X, and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Display adapters.
    3. Right click on the display driver and select Update Drivers.
    4. Restart the computer if prompted.

Article for reference: Update drivers in Windows 10.

    Adjust for best Performance:

    1. In the search box on the taskbar, type performance, then select Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows in the list of results.
    2. On the Visual Effects tab, select Adjust for best performance > Apply.
    3. Restart your PC and see if that speeds up your PC.

Let us know how it goes.
