Windows 10: garminexpress.msi

I have two GPS units. One of the units is a nuvi 50. This unit I've had for years and it has served me well. It is time for updates and when I plug the unit in for the updates from Garmin the computer will not update it. Tells me I need the garminexpress.msi to allow the GPS to be updated. No one seems to clear garmin express off of my computer so the system can't update me. I'm running windows 10 and it is frustrating to be stopped from updating by ones own system.

Inability to install GarminExpress

To whomever it may concern

I have recently bought a Garmin sportswatch and was required to install GarminExpress on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series). I was able to download the GarminExpress installer but when I tried to install it, it failed and said:

''Install Failed: Garmin Express could not be installed on this computer. Try installing again.''

I have done so numerous times and it still isn't working. I tried to run as administrator and it didn't work, and then went on to Troubleshooting the program, which turned out to be incompatible with my system (Windows 10). I have tried all I can to try
installing the program but it keeps saying that the GarminExpress is not compatible, and that I should check if my software was compatible, which according to Garmin, is.

After contacting Garmin they suggested I run as administrator, which I had done, and it didn't work.

MSI bios boot logo (frozen?)

If you have any USB device connected, disconnect for now.
Go into BIOS:

1. At boot time, the BIOS is checking for all devices attached to the PC, turn off the MSI boot logo under boot menu so you can see the text displayed of each step and note which device is hanging.
2. Under Advance->Windows 8/8.1/10: Enable MSI Fast Boot so that BIOS will bypass checking most devices that are none essential for booting. This will improve the boot process. Note that this is different from fast boot that you set in Windows.

Some third party drivers that you downloaded from the MSI website might not be up to date, try to download the latest driver(s) from the original manufacturers such Intel Chip Set, Network driver etc....

 

Uninstalling JRE but .msi is missing

Ok, now I got it:

1. Downloaded and started jre-8u101-windows-i586.exe
   
2. The Install failed in the second step with an error code, but as long as the installer is still open I could find a jre1.8.0_101.msi where the uninstall process searches for jre1.8.0_101full.msi (notice the difference in name)
   
3. Copied the file to a different directory and renamed it jre1.8.0_101full.msi
   
4. Closed the installer (directory and jre1.8.0_101.msi get deleted)
   
5. Started the uninstall process and changed the path to my new directory.
