Windows 10: Get more done with Outlook on the web with Microsoft 365 Integrations

Sometimes you are in the flow, efficient and productive. Other times, it feels like you have lost control of your time. New notifications keep pulling you in different directions, it takes too long to find what youâre searching for, or you just canât find the words while drafting an email.

With new innovations in Outlook, we are giving you more control to get things done faster, without leaving your inbox.

Outlook + Microsoft 365 Integrations

It is easy to get distracted with the onslaught of mail. Instead of switching apps to respond, you can now do more from within Outlook. Our Integrations with Microsoft 365 are designed to save you time.

Interactive email

Now when you get emails about missed messages in Teams, updates to your communities in Yammer, or new comments on Office docs you can respond directly from the email notification without having to switch applications. Of course, we still make it easy to jump into the full app experience if you prefer to do so.

Share to Teams

If you get an email and would like to share it via Teams, there is now an option to do so within Outlook. This also works the other way with the Share to Outlook option in Teams.

Intelligence and assistance

Staying on top of your personal communications and commitments can be a time-consuming and arduous task. With new advances in Microsoft AI, we are excited to give you some of that time back so you can focus on what matters most.

Suggested reply with a document

You already know suggested replies, which gives you 3 options at the bottom of a conversation which you can click to begin responding. Suggested replies can already help you schedule a meeting. Now we are taking this even further with suggested reply with a document.

When Outlook notices someone in the conversation requesting a file, one of the suggested replies will be âAttach a file.â Click this and Outlook will suggest files you might want to attach as well as options to search your local computer or cloud storage.

Text predictions

Outlook can help you write emails faster by anticipating what you may want to say next. Just click the tab key to accept the suggestion and continue composing. If for some reason the text prediction doesnât sound quite right, keep typing and the suggestion will disappear.

Microsoft Editor in Outlook

To help with the increasing amount of written communication, Editor in Outlook can help you save time and press send confidently knowing your message is clear, concise, and reviewed to minimize errors. The Microsoft Editor is also integrated into other Microsoft 365 apps such as Word and is available as a browser extension so all your settings can travel with you wherever you write. Search

Trying to find what you are looking for shouldnât be a test of your memory or of your knowledge of advanced filtering. With new innovations to search in Outlook on the web, it is easier than ever to find what you are looking for.

Search Answers

Instead of wading through the search results, you can now see the answer to your question without the clutter of the email content. Outlook extracts the most important information so you can quickly take action.

Outlook also searches more than just your inbox! You donât need to remember if you shared a particular file in Outlook, Teams, or at all.

To find information about a particular meeting, you donât have to go to your calendar. Simply type the name of the meeting, or the name of the organizer and we will bring the answer to you. You can RSVP, send emails, read associated documents, or join a Teams meeting right from the Calendar Answer.

Search in Outlook can also help you find internal sites for logging time off, filing expenses, or any other bookmarks set by your admins.

Natural Language Search

You can now choose to type your search query using everyday language to filter and narrow your search for emails, calendar events, contact information and files. Just type what you are thinking â âemail that Adele sent me last weekâ.

Cortana & Office 365 Integration

We are trying to integrate Cortana with our Office 365 subscription, but it never works. Here are the steps we have done:

Turned on Cortona in the Office 365 Admin portal

We are using Windows 10 1703 – connected Office 365 service to Cortana

Did the same on windows 10 mobile with no luck, Cortana says its connected to Office 365, but sees no data and we are getting zero errors

We went rough office 365 support first and tried all fo their suggestions, they kicked us over to Windows support which is currently closed.

We are on v1703 with all updates in place, it does not work on Windows 10 desktop or mobile

any ideas? I can give you all steps 365 support had us run through if that will be helpful

Microsoft To-Do and Cortana integration in Windows 10

Microsoft To-Do helps you manage, prioritize, and complete the most important things you need to achieve every day, powered by Office 365 integration.

Now, with Cortana integration, you can save time and stay organized — Cortana helps by adding your reminders and tasks to your lists in Microsoft To-Do, so you can stay on top of what matters most. Use your voice, your PC, your phone — your choice.

Streamline your tasks — your lists and reminders from across Microsoft To-Do, Cortana, and tasks in Outlook can now become one — centrally located in your Microsoft To-Do app. Use Microsoft To-Do anywhere: on your Android or iPhone, with Cortana, or on your Windows 10 PC. You can also access Microsoft To-Do from the web. It’s automatically synced so you never miss a beat.

With this integration, we are furthering efforts to seamlessly sync your to-do lists across Microsoft To-Do, Cortana, and your Outlook tasks. Follow the quick steps below and give it a try. To share feedback, join the cohort or use the Feedback Hub.

Getting started

Your Windows 10 PC must be running Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18267+ and tied to either an Australia, India, US, or UK region. To sync your reminders and lists across Cortana, Microsoft To-Do, and Outlook, set up Outlook or Office 365 as a connected service in Cortana on your PC:

Cortana > Notebook > Manage Skills > Connected services

Select your account type:

Personal Microsoft account: select Outlook

Enterprise account: select Office 365

Click Connect.

Your reminders and lists across Cortana, Microsoft To-Do and Outlook will start syncing.

If you already have Outlook or Office 365 set up as a connected service in Cortana, initiate the sync by trying one of these actions:

Reminders: Cortana > Notebook > Organizer > Reminders or

Lists: Cortana > Notebook > Organizer > Lists

Then, sign into the Microsoft To-Do app or Outlook with the same personal or enterprise account you used earlier when setting up connected services in Cortana. All your reminders and lists will now be synced across Cortana, Microsoft To-Do and Outlook.

Things to try

Add items to a list

Open the Microsoft To-Do app on your PC and create a new list titled “Travel”.

Ask Cortana to add “Paris” to your “Travel” list.

Verify if “Paris” was automatically added to your “Travel” list on Microsoft To-Do.

Your accounts should sync automatically. If you need to force a sync, go to Microsoft To-Do app > click on your account name > Settings > Sync

Set reminders

Ask Cortana: “Remind me to call Dave in 2 minutes.”

Wait for the reminder. You should receive a Microsoft To-Do reminder, and a Cortana reminder.

The reminder should appear both in your Microsoft To-Do planned tasks and your Cortana To-Do lists.

In the Microsoft To-Do app and Cortana, you can also add a time reminder on any item in the lists.

Recall items on a list

Ask Cortana: “What is on my To-Do list?”

Try this with any other named lists. “What is on my Grocery list?”

Recall your reminders

Go to the Microsoft To-Do app and click on Tasks.

Create a new task and add to the Task list.

Click on the new task to edit.

Click on “Remind me” and set a reminder for later in the day.

Ask Cortana: “What are my reminders for today?”

Try with other query patterns such as “What are my reminders in the evening?” etc.

Known Issues

(last updated 12.18.18)
There are a few known issues we’re tracking to and working to resolve:

Works best when you disconnect Wunderlist from Cortana.

Location-based reminders can only be created in Cortana, while you can view them in your Microsoft To-Do app.

Attachments added with Cortana are only accessible in Cortana (won’t sync to Microsoft To-Do)

A list shared between multiple people in the Microsoft To-Do app will only appear in Cortana for the person who shared it. All members of the list can still access the list in Microsoft To-Do.

You may see duplicate notifications for a single reminder — from Cortana, Microsoft To-Do, and Outlook apps on your Windows 10 PC or iOS phone. Learn how to change notification settings in Windows 10

You may get “Too many reminders” error while setting up reminders using Cortana on a Windows phone. Delete some of the completed reminders as a workaround. Go to Cortana > Notebook > Reminders > History > Completed either on PC or Windows phone.

Microsoft To Do is now integrated with Microsoft 365 suite of apps

Digital clutter is an ever-increasing challenge. It’s one of the reasons why modern life feels so busy and chaotic. Microsoft To Do is committed to providing a complete task management solution that keeps people at the center. To Do helps people focus on and keep track of what matters, in work and in life. Our 3 key promises are: 1) collect tasks from different sources, 2) show urgent and important tasks, and 3) help users complete them (coming soon).

To fulfil our first promise, we’re integrating To Do with the Microsoft 365 suite of applications and making it available in key user workflows. Following up on the full Outlook/To Do integration, Tasks in Teams is rolling out this August. With this launch, To Do is now available in Microsoft Teams .

To Do is already integrated with Planner - tasks assigned to you in Planner boards show up in the “Assigned to you” list. To Do is also available in Microsoft Launcher and any task added via Cortana gets added to To Do. By Q121, we will support @mentions in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, which means that whenever someone @mentions you, the tasks you’re mentioned in will automatically appear in your “Assigned to you” smart list. We’re also working on adding your reading lists from Edge as tasks. More integrations are on the way to make To Do the place for all your tasks.

Tasks in Teams provide consolidated view of your To Do and Planner tasks

To Do is much more than a to-do list organizer. It’s an intelligent fabric that collects and connects tasks across the Microsoft 365 suite of applications. For example, the Insights add-in program for Outlook extracts important commitments or follow-ups from your Outlook messages and, with a click, adds them to To Do. In addition, the My Day smart list has task suggestions collected from across Microsoft 365 to help you prioritize and complete important tasks for your day. Moreover, you can also share lists with coworkers to get more done together. You can easily switch to your personal account and organize your tasks outside of work.

To Do is built on the Microsoft Exchange platform, and it meets all security and privacy standards by design like your Outlook inbox. Organization admins can easily grant or remove access to To Do for their employees. We imagine a future where all your tasks in Microsoft 365 apps are collected automatically in To Do so you can focus on what matters and save time every day.

To Do complies with information governance and eDiscovery features of Office 365
