Windows 10: Getting Double Notifications

I'm aware others have asked about something similar, but in my case it seems to be different. I've heard of many people getting 'double' notifications, one usually being from outlook.I do not have outlook, and none of my notifications appear to be from it. Yet, I still get 'repeated' notifications.


To be more specific, every time I get a notification, from hangouts for example, it will only show as one. But as soon as I close the notification, it closes and immediately shows an exact copy of the previous mentioned notification. It is quite annoying because I might be doing art or something like that and close the notification, click back on my window, then it will reappear and I have to close it again.


They also do not show as multiple notifications, so I'm pretty certain I am not getting an actual second notification, but rather just the notification appearstwice.


Is there any reason as to why windows is doing this, and how can I stop it? It's quite annoying and all the answers I find from other sites or even this one seem to be related to outlook, but in my case it isn't.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

Yes me too! Only with my FB app which was already installed when I upgraded to W10. wont load and was removed from my Notification List, I miss getting my messages via notifications, I did all the steps suggested but still nothing

Follow these steps to check if it works:

Step 1: Open the Windows Settings menu by pressing the Windows Key and “I,” or alternatively search for Settings in the Windows search bar and click the corresponding result.

Step 2: Click Notifications & Actions in the left-hand menu. This will take you to a screen providing access to all of the settings related to notifications and the Action Center.

Step 3: Click the System icon, then select Notifications and actions from the left-hand menu.

Step 4: Look for the Notifications subheading, where you will see a number of toggles for various types of notifications. The following is a list of the settings you can toggle on this screen:

• Get notifications from apps and other senders
• Show notifications on the lock screen
• Show alarms, reminders, and incoming VoIP calls on the lock screen
• Hide notifications when duplicating my screen
• Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows

You may just turn them off the notification as you need.
