Windows 10: Getting error 0x80004005 when opening a music file.

I cannot play any music file on groove or windows media player.My computer doesn't even have sound when playing videos (I can play videos).

I've tried using these (with their full commands) but they don't work. sfcDISM

I could actually play music before, I just don't know what happend.

I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
