Windows 10: Getting error code 0x80070246 when trying to do Windows Update for 2022-05 Cumulative...

HelloI am unable to do any Windows Updates on my computer: Windows Update for 2022-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems KB5013942It will say it's downloading and then the 0% stays for a few minutes, I then see it go to 10% and then installing shows but nothing. Then I get this error code: 0x80070246What should I do? Everyday I try and do updated and it seems to be stuck.IT people are telling me I might have to back up everything, uninstall windows and reinstall the whole thing. Regards,Denise May 17, 2022

Error: 0x80070246, when installing cumulative updates

This has been going on since 1709 I'm on 1809 now! My PC just refuses to install cumulative updates always with an error of 0x80070246. Every other update will install fine.

Here's everything I've done so far:

1. Tried Different Antivirus Programs: AVG, AVAST, Kaspersky, Windows Defender
2. Scanned PC for Viruses, Malware, spyware, etc.
3. Manually installing the Updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog
4. Renamed "Software Distribution" and "Catroot2" folders
5. Re-registered BITS and Windows update files
6. Used System File Checker SFC command
7. Restarted Windows Update Components
8. Deleted CLFS logs
9. Used "Reset PC"

Any other suggestions?

Windows Update - Error 0x80070246


Unfortunately I faced problems on many steps of the process.
1. "specify settings for optional component installation and component repair" was fine.
2. "WSReset.exe" opened windows store, I guess it's also fine.
3. "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" please see screenshot:





4. "dism /online /cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup" please see screenshot:





5. "sfc /scannow" please see screenshot:





6. "powershell" gave me "PS C:\Windows\system32>" so I guess it's fine.

7. "Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}" please see screenshot:






I checked Windows update after that and restarted and rechecked with no luck.

1. What was the result of SFC scan?
   
2. Which option was selected during the reset of PC?
   
3. What is the make and model of the PC?
   

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.



Method 1:



Install the updates in safe mode with networking. Refer the article to
