  3. Getting BSOD 0x124 error

    Ignore what everone said here.

0x124 BSOD is usually related to VCCIO (VTT), run Prime95 version 26.6 with custom sizes of 512K to 640K with 50% of your memory for at least 8 hours.

If you get a 0x124 BSOD, increase VCCIO voltage by small steps, run Prime95 again until your stable.

If you pass Prime95 512K to 640K without a BSOD, then its Vcore too low. I'd suggest running IntelBurnTest with 80% of your memory to verify stability (8 to 12 hours).

Oh, and yeah, if this problem appeared all of the sudden, the reason is CPU degradation, you can prevent it by enabling C-States or adjust your overclock to use lower voltages.

Random BSOD (Windows 10) ntoskrnl/0x00000124 bugcheck

Been getting infrequent BSOD errors on my Windows 10 PC (Home edition).

I had a look on BlueScreenView, seems like a lot of the bugcheck BSOD is ntoskrnl related but I can't work out if it's hardware related or some bad driver somewhere.

    • The computer is 9 months old, custom built gaming PC.
    • Temperatures are low <60C at load, <30C at idle (waterblock cooling on CPU)
    • System is stable when gaming, a lot of the BSOD is happening at idle. (I leave my PC running all the time)
    • The OS was upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 in late 2015.
    • System felt more stable under Windows 8.1, not really experienced many BSOD under Win8.1
    • I have tested the memory with 10 successful passes (12 hrs).
    • Have run DirectX diagnostics and cyclic Heaven/Valley benchmarks - no crash.
