I am trying to transfer videos from my JVC Everio camcorder to my laptop. I haven't used this camcorder in two years. But I have all the videos I transferred onto this laptop from two years ago. I don't have the software on the laptop so I tried using the the manual instructions, but I am still getting the same error message. I looked at youtube tutorials for this message and they all say to go into device manager or device settings and go into edit power plan, change device settings and USB settings". I don't have any of these USB settings where it says they should be. Not sure why I don't. A

  2. Error message "Please update your device settings to accept media transfers."

    Hi, Barbara Thomas2

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for bringing this issue with your Seagate backup device to my attention. It sounds frustrating to encounter the "Please update your device settings to accept media transfers" error message when trying to copy photos and videos from iCloud or Microsoft Photos.

    Let's troubleshoot this problem together:

    1. Check USB Connection: Ensure that your Seagate backup device is properly connected to your HP laptop via USB. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause issues with data transfer. You can try connecting your device to your computer through a different USB cable.
    2. Verify Device Compatibility: Make sure that your Seagate backup device is compatible with Windows 11 and your HP laptop. Check the manufacturer's website for any compatibility issues or recommended settings.
    3. Try Different Transfer Methods: Instead of using Microsoft Photos, try transferring files directly from iCloud to your Seagate backup device using File Explorer. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the Photos app.
    4. Contact Seagate Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, I recommend reaching out to Seagate Support for further assistance. They can provide specialized support for your backup device and help troubleshoot any compatibility or configuration issues.
I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with such issues, especially when you're trying to back up important files. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with.

"Please update your device settings to accept media transfers."

I bought a WD external storage to move important photos from my Windows PC into it for safe keeping, when I try to import files I keep getting "Please update your device settings to accept media transfers." Instead of giving me the settings feature it gives me a read more link which doesn't have the answer. I've gone through the settings on the device and still nothing indicates media transfers. It's getting ridiculous. Something that should take a half hour I'm spending days looking for a solution online, anyone have an awnser?

  4. Getting message "Please update your device settings to accept media transfers."

Error message "Please update your device settings to accept media transfers."

I installed a 2 TB Seagate backup device for primarily photos and files. Using a Microsoft 11; an HP laptop (2022) and attempting to copy from iCloud photos/videos or once moved to Microsoft Photos, use a copy/paste - or drag/drop; and this error comes up no matter what.

All the responses and YouTube videos suggest a roll-back of Microsoft Photos app to a previous version which is not coming up as an option on my laptop.

All USB and Seagate drivers updated (already had the correct drivers per Microsoft.)

Do not see a Microsoft setting that uses these words in the error message "accept or media or transfers."

Help? This has taken hours to figure out and it should not be this difficult!!

    Thanks in advance!

    Frustrated.
