Windows 10: Getting ready for 10

Well, that's not really true. There's a lot of old hardware out there that just isn't supported by Windows 10. For instance, any CPU that doesn't have the NX bit. Also, Just try getting it to run on an old S3 video card or Matrox might even be difficult.

Glad you have some common hardware that's still supported, but frankly, i'd say you're more lucky than anything else...

 

I received this reply from SiSoftware concerning their Sandra product:
"No. There is no hardware test since such tests are not possible in Windows since hardware is "owned" by their respective device driver; only if the driver were to have a test function that could be achieved.
Most BIOSes - especially UEFI - have diagnostics mode which can test hardware since no OS is running.
Sandra's benchmarks can tell you whether the hardware is operating normally, e.g. SATA ports running at the right speed, USB2/3 transferring at the right speed, LAN pings/transfers at the right speed, Video/GPGPU does not throttle, etc."

So I'll check if my mobo's BIOS has a diagnostics feature I can use. My mobo is pretty old & I just want to make sure all is working ok & that I don't need a new mobo soon.

 

You can just run a benchmark program like: Download and monitor parameters like temperatures and voltages. It will load up computer and whole system to it's limits and any weakness will show up.
