Ghost file only showing up in DxDiag

I recently ran a DxDiag to troubleshoot a game that wasn’t working, and I discovered that the issue was caused by a VPN service that I removed over a year ago. Although I no longer have the service, the file "nordvpn-service.exe" remains on my system and is causing the problem. I searched for the app and used the Command Prompt to look for the file, but I couldn't find it. However, it clearly appears in my DxDiag report. How can I remove it? I even contacted NordVPN and they just sent me to a blog to remove the app, which is already gone. Problem signatureGhost file only showing up in DxDiag :p1: nordvpn-service.exeP2: 1.1.0.

  2. Sniper Ghost Warrior

    Hi Gary,

Sorry for the delay in response.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?
    • Do you face the issue only with Sniper Ghost Warrior?
We would suggest you to update the graphics drivers and check.

  3. ghost file on desktop

    Hello Bruce,

Thank you for your continued patience on this issue. I would like to assist you further.

If you are unable to remove the file using Explorer, I suggest you to try delete the file using the command prompt. Follow the below steps.

    • Press Windows key + X, select
Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
    • Now browse to the folder where the file is located. You can go to the root of the drive by typing in cd /, followed by
cd foldername to navigate into directories. Once you are there, type in
dir to get a listing of all the files.
    • To delete a fie type del “filename”

    Hope it helps this time.

    Thank you.

    DxDiag Error

    Hi,

To enable the Direct 3D feature on your device, we suggest following the steps below:

    • Run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (Dxdiag.exe).
    • On the Display tab, verify that DirectDraw Acceleration and
Direct3D Acceleration are selected under DirectX Features.
    • If either of these lines shows a Disabled status, click
      Enable
      for that line.
    • If multiple video adapters are installed in your computer, repeat steps 2 for each
Display tab in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

We're here to help. We'll keep an eye out for your response.
