Windows 10: Global dark theme is an awful dictation!

Hello fellow Windows 10 user,


as I turned on my laptop this morning I noticed that after the update I installed yesterday some changes have happened. As alway I cross my fingers and hope Microsoft did not disimprove anything. And right away I see some cool stuff like fore exapmle the wider search window, that pops up when you klick the magnifier next to the start button, showing options like start as admin.

But as I open the explorer I have to notice that it is BLACK. After a quick search I found out that it is like that because I have the dark theme aktivated. So I am looking for an option to change the theme for the explorer itself but without any luck.


As Microsoft states some insiders have asked for a new feature to change the explorers color. But doing so by including that to the global theme color choise is just the worst possible way to accomplish that.


Why does my operating system has to be a dictator and tell me if you want your options and toolbar dark you have to take everything in dark? Is it to difficult to give us an extra option to chose the explorers color theme by itself. I know that the explorer is a highly native thing to Windows but for me as a user it is just one of many aplications.

I want to chose the look of my aplications individualy, especially when some colors just do not suit every window.


How do you tink about that? Is it to mutch to ask for a seperat option? Do you think its alright to get used to tings until they do not bother you anymore?

Dark Theme no longer works after November update

Thank you for coming back to us with the information.

Let’s try uninstalling/reinstalling the theme and check if this helps. Follow the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on Programs and features, locate for the Dark theme, right click on it and click on
  Uninstall.
  
• 
  Now try installing it again and check.

Dark Theme

I applied the dark theme in my laptop.I am only getting the dark theme in settings and not in file explorer/this pc.

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on the dropdown box underneath Choose a theme.
• Select Dark.
