Gmail and Facebook unreachable following 10th October Windows 10 and Malicious Software...

My fairly new laptop running Windows 10 Pro (Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134) can no longer access Gmail or Facebook within Chrome after 2 Windows updates installed on 10th October 2018:

    - Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems KB4462919 (OS Build 17134.345)

    - Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 – October 2018 (KB890830)

I can access these sites in Edge. I am running Kaspersky Internet Security but doubt this has anything to do with it as the problem occurred immediately after the 2 Windows updates above.

    https://www.facebook.com/ gives the following message:

    This site can’t be reached
    www.facebook.com is currently unreachable.

    Try:

    • Checking the connection
    • Checking the proxy and the firewall
    ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE

    https://mail.google.com/mail/ gives a similar message

    https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox gives the following message:

    This site can’t be reached

The web page at https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

    ERR_FAILED

    How can I fix this?

    :)

    Gmail suspicious activity alert?

I'd definitely setup two-step verification like MailMan suggested. I actually just set it up myself, and have a similar feature on Facebook as well. Better safe than sorry! *Toast :toast:
