    Gmail playing silly ***

Today it has been refusing to accept the password, when I try to access via Thunderbird. Therefore I deleted in Google and reinstalled, but still the password was rejected, so I created a new word, and successfully opened in browser.

When, however, I configure in Thunderbird, inserting the same word, the settings are OK, but the password is refused.

I've no idea why, but also keep getting security messages, that are driving me mad.
has anyone a clue how I can get the problem sorted, please, and also tame Google's interfering bossiness?

    :)

I can confirm that this tutorial: lets you sync your contacts with gmail. It has a silly length maximum for the password, but other than that is fine. Just follow it exactly.

  3. Can't add attachments in Gmail (Windows 10)

    Hi,

this might seem so silly but just found your post while trying to find a solution as I had the same issue. And now I was able to do it, the solution was to close the file in use by other application. I was trying to send a MS Word file through Gmail on MS
Edge, and wasn't able to do so. After closing MS Word, I was able to attach the file.

Hope this helps... seems so silly but worked for me.

    Hi chipwood.

Any chance you have two step verification turned on? If so you probably need an "App" password.

Not sure how you are connecting to gmail, either POP or IMAP.

For some reason there have been a few threads about gmail rejecting what is considers less secure connections / apps.

If you go to "My Account" in gmail you can permit sign in from less secure apps. Should be under Password section as I recall.
