Windows 10: GOG Galaxy Game crashes since Windows 11 24H2 Update

I sometimes play an old game that's over 20 years old and was purchased through the gog.com site. The game Alpha Centauri - The Planetary Pack is an old DOS based game that has never failed to work on Windows 10 or until now Windows 11.Since the update, it now only works on Windows 10 and this is what happens on Windows 11:It is a turn based game and everything is fine until a turn ends. So whether I start a new game or load an in progress game, there are no errors but the game shuts down as soon as a new turn starts.I'm struggling to find out what in the update causes this or how to test wi

How to uninstall GOG Galaxy

I understand how frustrating it must be to be stuck with a malfunctioning GOG Galaxy app and unable to play your games.

Please try to end the process in the background and then uninstall it.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager. Look for any GOG Galaxy-related processes in the "Processes" or "Details" tab, such as "GalaxyClient.exe" or "GalaxyCommunication.exe". Right-click on each process and select "End Task" to terminate them. This should ensure that the app is not running in the background.

Then, you can follow the below steps to uninstall it

Open the Settings app by pressing Windows + I.

Go to "Apps" and click on the "Installed apps" option.

Find and select the GOG Galaxy app from the list.

Click the three-dot button and choose the "Uninstall" option.

Unable to play DirectX 9 games when using the GOG (Good Old Games) GALAXY launcher

Whenever I use the GOG GALAXY launcher to start a DirectX 9-based game, the game either crashes and closes or it displays a black screen.

1. Can you download the game through GOG Galaxy?

2. Did you uninstall the GOG Galaxy platform and reinstall it?

Your computer is perfectly equipped to run Steam and Epic Games, which leads me to believe that the problem is not systems or hardware, so I focus on GOG Galaxy apps.
