Windows 10: Going back and forth between single monitor and multiple resetting app distribution between...

For my work I have a laptop that I sometimes use alone, sometimes sit in a dock to use multiple monitors which are much bigger than my laptop. When I undock, all the open apps are condensed back to the single monitor screen on the laptop. Completely understandable. The problem is when I dock again, I have to reorganize my apps across multiple monitors every single time; time consuming and annoying.


I tried using the multiple desktop feature Windows 10 has on the laptop which has made working on a single screen a lot better. But it doesn't look like it shares those desktops across the 2 other monitors when docked as I had hoped. It just gives each monitor multiple desktops, none of which contains the already open apps in their original place across multiple monitors.


Is there a way to save which open apps appear on different monitors when it's docked? And have it so they always go back to the other extra monitors when I go back and forth between single and multiple monitors?

The issue is most likely with the graphics driver. Whenever a single monitor from a multiple display setup in Windows, it will attempt to move everything from that screen onto the remaining screens. Usually, this issue should not occur when suspending, hibernating,
or shutting down. Having said that, we suggest that you update the graphics driver by following the steps on this link:

Update drivers in Windows 10.

In case that the issue persists after following the steps on the link above, we suggest that you update the graphics driver by going to the chipset manufacturer's website.
