  1. Google Chrome - Windows not recognizing as App

    TLDR:

Windows wasn't recognizing Chrome as an App: No default browser, no uninstall, etc.

    Solution:

    Windows Key

    Type Google Chrome

    Right Click Google Chrome

    Left Click "Run as Administrator"

I was working with a Windows support guy, Raja, for an hour or two tonight. I was having issues with Windows recognizing google chrome (I was trying to make it my default browser for months, but it was working fine). After many attempts of Raja pulling up google'd answers I had already tried (a 3rd party installation "edgeblocker.exe" was new to me), he wanted me to reset my PC. As resetting my PC started this issue, I did not want to do that (for other reasons as well, mind you). Eventually, after right clicking it under the search bar, I pressed "run as administrator." Suddenly, I got a shortcut on my desktop, the ability to uninstall chrome, and for it to be made my default browser. I was confused because this is the Admin account, and I assumed everything was running as Admin (I always manually Run as Admin for CMD though). This was not suggested online. There are only two possibilities: I pressed an option on initial chrome setup that made windows not recognize it as an App, or Windows didn't recognize it for some other reason on its side. Just thought I'd share my interesting fix and experience tonight.

    :)

    problem uninstalling google chrome

    Hi,

Since you already uninstalled Google Chrome using the Programs and Features, Google notifications may still be running in the background processes. We suggest that you follow these steps on how to end the Google Chrome process:

    • On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
    • Select Task Manager.
    • Under Processes, locate Google Notifications or Google Chrome.
    • Right click on them and select End Task.
    • Double check under Programs and Features if Google Chrome is completely gone.

Let us know if these steps worked.
