Windows 10: Google Chrome Won't Open Because my Side-by-Side configuration Does Not Match

Google Chrome crashed yesterday while I was at work. I tried opening the browser repeatedly but no window would pop up. Eventually I decided to uninstall and then reinstall the browser in the hope that it would fix the problem.


Since reinstalling the program, I have received a pop up window every time I try to open the browser that tells me that there is an issue in my side by side configuration. I have tried following the advice of this video:

When I go to the registry editor, I see that my default matches the highest number. So that matches. I did try to download another version of the c++ but I was told that my computer already has that program so it can't be installed. I've also gone to my control panel --> opened network and internet --> internet options --> and changed my homepage to google.com


None of this has worked, and I am running out of options. Please help.

Since you already uninstalled Google Chrome using the Programs and Features, Google notifications may still be running in the background processes. We suggest that you follow these steps on how to end the Google Chrome process:

• On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
• Select Task Manager.
• Under Processes, locate Google Notifications or Google Chrome.
• Right click on them and select End Task.
• Double check under Programs and Features if Google Chrome is completely gone.

• Open Internet explorer and type ‘www.google.com’ in the address bar.
• To will get a notification on the right side of the browser to download and install Google Chrome.
• Click on the notification and follow the prompts to download and install the Google Chrome application.
