Windows 10: Google search results on IE11 fault

After doing a search with Google on IE11, when I click on one of the lower links in the web page displayed, it jumps to the top of the page and can't open the link I want.

I know of several other persons who are experiencing the same problem.

Anybody suggest any work arounds?

In response to your questions:

1 - the issue was specific to (a) google search, (b) in IE11. i.e. in Edge google worked normally

2 - No, I had not made any changes

3 - The issue was not a compatibility one as I could open any website using IE by typing in the URL in the address box

4 - The machine was clean of virus and malware (MacAfee and Malwarebytes)

5 - Specifically the problem was that if you scrolled down the list of search results and clicked on a link, other than the link at the top of the list, no web page would open and you would be returned to the top of the search list.

I reset the settings in IE using the internet advanced tab and the problem has "gone".

However, I still don't know the cause.

Try this....Open Google Chrome....click on 3 bars top right corner....More Tools.....Extensions....untick MSN and BING search engine....this way you use Google Chrome,

To use IE11 open tools cog top right and click on Manage addons...click on Search Providers....down at the bottom find more search providers....choose Google Search...you can change the listing order in Search Providers.
