Windows 10: GPU issues after update to 20H2

I have an older PC, Dell Inspiron 531, with MSI GeForceGT710 installed in it, other upgrades include Toshiba SSD, 8gb Ram, upgradedPSU old one failed after 12yrs. The Toshiba SSD is partitioned in 2, for dualboot Win7/Win10. Up until recently everything was working fine, last year inNov when I tried updating to Win 10 20h2 I was having major issues with the GPU,the display was all garbled up, I tried few things and gave up after a while,and just reverted to previous version of Win10 and figured drivers weren’tcompatible at the time. Last week I got a notice to update to Win10 20h2 sincemy build was nearing its end. I went ahead and updated again to Win10 20h2 inhopes that this time drivers and everything would be compatible. I was mistaken,and same issues were happening. Screen is all distorted, even starting in safemode doesn’t help, I can’t see or read much of anything. In the end I just shutdown, remove the card and plug the vga into onboard slot.



Last thing I tried was a clean install of Win10 20h2 viausb. After doing that, ran all the updates, downloaded DDU and cleaned alldrivers, downloaded the newest driver from Nvidia, installed and still same problems.I was suspecting a faulty GPU, but when I log into Win7 everything is workingfine, and no codes are thrown in Dev Manager for GPU in Win7. All this ismaking me believe that Gt710 is not compatible with the new Win 10 20h2, it wasworking fine with the previous versions of Win 10. Does anyone have any ideawhat might be the issue or how to go about it?

First photo is normal boot and when I do make it to the desktop, as you can see it's very hard to see/read anything or navigate.

Second photo is stuck on the repairs i'm guessing hard to make it out. And third photo is starting up in the Safe Mode which doesn't help.

Once again all this is happening when booting up in Win10 20h2, on the Win7 side it boots up just fine.

20H2 should not be installed right-away on your device - MS said the rollout is only to a fraction of users and would be labeled as an optional update initially. Are you enrolled in WIP?

You may uninstall 20H2 using the steps below:

having issues with multi GPU

I’m trying to offload certain apps to my iGPU on the second screen, using the new graphics settings in the recent win 10 release. the issue is it’s only showing my 1070. lists it as both power saving GPU, and
high performance GPU.

I’ve been fiddling for a while now with no joy, and i’m really hoping one of you guys has an idea they can suggest to sort this!

I can extend onto the second screen no probs with it plugged into the iGPU, but the 1070 is still listed as both power saving GPU and high performance GPU.

Are there requirements for this? certain level of iGPU for it to work?

Edit - setting the secondary screen connected to the iGPU to be the "main" display in graphics settings makes my iGPU show as both power saving and high performance GPU, I just can't seem to get them
to be one and not the other.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
