Windows 10: Graphical card driver not compatible with this version of windows

Hello ! Today I noticed that some of my games lunched on the cpu instead of the gpu. So I wanted to change that but I didn't got accès to the nvidia control panel. I search that problem on Google and found that the last solution (other solutions failed) is to uninstall the graphical card and reinstall the good drivers.

My graphical card is a Nvidia GeForce 940 M, and I downloaded the driver on the official web site. After I uninstalled the Graphical card I tryed to run the installer and I got the message "this driver is not compatible with that version of window"

How am I supposed to do now ?

Unable to install graphics card driver on Windows 10.

You may be facing the above issue due to no graphics card drivers installed on your PC. If a device driver is not installed, then the particular device will not be supported on the PC. Any device driver installed on the PC will be visible under
Device manager.



Method 1: I suggest you to download and install the latest and most compatible graphics card driver for Windows 10 operating system from the manufacturer’s website and check if the device driver is visible under
Device manager.



Method 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode by
following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



Step 1: Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.

• 
  Download the latest driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website or locate the driver setup file of the previous operating system in your PC.
  
• 
  Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
  properties.
  
• 
  Click on the compatibility tab, check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
  
• 
  Once the driver is installed in compatibility mode,
  restart the PC for the effective changes to take place.
  

Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• 
  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard and type
  Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
  
• 
  Select the top most search result and follow from step 2 from
  Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows
  (Also applies to Windows 10).

I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer and see if the drivers are available for Windows 10.If the drivers are not available you can run the drivers for the graphics card in compatibility mode and see if it helps.

Now, to install in Compatibility Mode, follow these steps:

a. Locate the executable file (.exe file) for the driver installation program.

b. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.

c. In the Package Name Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.

d. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows 8 with which it is compatible with in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then click OK.

e. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.
