    I just recently upgraded my motherboard, processor, and graphics card to a MAG b550, ryzen 5 3600, and geforce gtx 1660 super respectively. I just got windows all set up and updated but the graphics card is showing as a microsoft basic display adapter in the device manager and I downloaded an easy update program from microsoft and it says that its up to date for 6/21/2006. That's almost 17 years ago. The app im using to find this information is WinZip System Utilities Suite and after updating it gives me an error that says that the update is not compatible with the current version of windows, but I'm using the most current version of windows, am I not?

    This is what worked for me. After upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7 devise manager shows Microsoft display basic adapter, I selected driver update then my pc and browse to C: drive then it auto searched my C: drive and found my old graphic card and
    installed the correct display driver which was NVidia and listed correct model. Now the monitor is identified by the correct name and model, and I was able to adjust display to the recommended settings it was 1600x900 which it was not an available option

    The graphics driver shows as “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” after upgrading to Windows 10

    After upgrading from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, my display adapter driver in Windows 10 is showing as the “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” instead of the specific driver for my graphics card, resulting in poor graphics quality.
    Why did that happen and how do I fix it?

    VGN-FS570, clean install from xp to win 10 having a problem the graphic display, only seeing microsoft basic display adapter, not getting the full screen of the display, cannot change the adapter, tried
    to install adapter, not supported by your device

    the problem is cannot change microsoft basic display adapter, not getting full screen on display, also seeing a yellow arrow on the adapter in device manager, was able to get full screen when using win xp. how do i fix this problem,
    I have tried numerous technique without success
