Windows 10: Graphics driver crashing to black screen - GT-610

Perfect, problem solved. Use the old driver till an update comes out that fixes it

 

Going back to 347.88 tends to mess up windows update and some updates get blocked like other hardware updates which are ok, if only there were a way to block just the nvidia driver.

 

Might be certain chipset like your Fermi still having issues as in past with newer drivers and Windows 10, was a past issue if this is what it is. Stick with older drivers for now if they work. Not positive this is it, also make sure running power options in high performance and try shutting off Fast startup if enabled.

 

True, think can only stop all drivers for hardware, not a particular one as seen in other posts about this, unless someone found a way.

 

Fast startup is a red herring as I never reboot, have enabled high performance, if someone knows a way to block nvidia drivers on windows update without blocking other stuff let me know.

I have filed a bug report with nvidia and sent sys info report no idea if they will look at it.

 

Fast startup is used with hibernation. I was looking a bit at other posts about drivers and windows update, did not see anything or ever heard of blocking one. Strange at to why my system does not try to install it before i do with NVIDIA.

You can change device installation settings to notify if there is a device update instead of auto

 

Your welcome, i remember seeing this once before about best i remembered. Other member that posted here has a running thread similar issue as yours, they thought it was solved but still happens.

 

In device installation settings, type it in start

 

I have done that but it also blocks other drivers and the choice is install or dont install, no notify.

 

You cannot check the reliability of anything during installation.

 

I've managed to stop mine crashing to black screen and forcing reboots, now it just recovers the driver and prompts me, fresh clean install with no trace of the prior OS on this HDD, might help to do the same?

 

If you go to nvidea forums and type in nvlddmkm in the search box,then look for the post by jimbonbon,you will find a comprehensive list of possible solutions.This is a problem,which does not have a quick fix,if any and seems to be a product of Win 10.
