Windows 10: Greg, Dave, LA Crumb,.esq: Guys - I am about to install 10X ent, over 10X ent ... x-check

Dear Legends,


User in another forum 3D asked me to look at x-compatibility of 2002 PS2 games/sprite tools and modern systems. In the process might have damaged the system a bit old programs/installers. Lost the menu, search, cortana, sound-on TB and focus assist, etc. Have worked through all the other archived fixes ... many written by Greg, Dave, LAC, and others.


Have decided to try an over install first rather than complete/new install, because I think that may fix Aero where I think the issue lies, as it is not Explorer.


Pursuant - I want to be able to give credit/tick/kudos for those past efforts proper attribution. If folks add a comment here - I can tick it as a solution.


Other - for interest - before or during losing most of the above, system reported: 'overrun of stack-based buffer in this application' - on backgroundTaskhost.exe.


Have looked at prior posts regarding these types of error messages. They seem directly linked to the menu/search/taskbar dysfunction issues.

Will a Windows 10 update change the GUI the same as 10X has?

The design I've been seeing from reviews of Windows 10X is amazing. It's fresh looking, and way more modern to look at. Just wondering, does Microsoft have any plans on updating Windows 10's GUI to be the same as 10X has?
