Windows 10: Grey/Black Screen after HP loading and System Recovery issues

Since yesterday I've had problems with my Laptop due to an output audio problem my Windows 10 had from an update in which I tried to fix with a system restore. It took literal hours until I gave up and turned the system on and off to which the real problems began.


The HP symbol took forever to load and when it did, all I got was a grey/black screen. I tried troubleshooting and doing another system recovery but for some odd reason my Microsoft password won't work. I tried even resetting the password yet it still says it's incorrect even though I know for a fact that it's right when I make it visible, every digit is correct yet it still says I'm wrong. I can't do any of the other options without it asking for the password too and I can't reset the PC as it suggests since I go right back to the grey/black screen.


I also tried going to enabling Safe Mode yet when I do that, the loading takes me right back to the grey/black screen too. I'm not sure what I should do at this point.

HP Startup Black Screen - Strange behaviour!


This morning my laptop stopped working. When loading what appears is just a black screen. Nothing more.
The last thing I did on my pc was watching a film and I didn't download or install anything.
I tried to make sure that the screen isn't broken by plugging it to a monitor, but it still showed no response.
Afterwards I tried to enter the BIOS. By pressing ESC during loading it gives me a startup menu with multiple choices:

• System information
• System Diagnostics
• Boot Device Options
• BIOS Setup
• System Recovery

First of all, since something is appearing, this means that the screen is working (and i guess also the graphics card should be working properly).
So I think it is because something happened with the OS (could be an update, not sure, I had Windows 10).
Coming back to the menu, this is what happens:

• System information: just gives me some info on the pc
• System Diagnostics: lets me check the memory (should work but takes 20min and not sure if I would understand the output) and hard disk (which doesn't work, because it says that the software for checking isn't installed)
• Boot Device Options: enables me to select different Boot options
• BIOS Setup: tried changing some options but didn't help
• System Recovery: when launched the screen becomes black again, and after 5min a screen with HP logo (and under the text "System Repair") appears, but goes away after 30s and the screen stays black again (end result: nothing seems to have happened).

I also tried to install Windows 10 again, by booting an USB I have, and when running the HP logo appears with a circle that is loading and after some seconds of loading everything remains black again.
Overall I think it is something that can be repaired (I think somehow by installing a new OS) since we can still access the BIOS and other options (that doesn't really work), but I'm not sure how, I tried almost everything.
Does someone has some ideas?

 

HD5770 grey screen problem

My Grey Screen was caused by bad memory. Changed the memory and everything has been good for over a year. What i mean by this is that Grey Screens are not black and white to solve they are in the grey area. There are alot of different components within your computer that can be causing the grey screen. If you can i would RMA 1st though because the GPU may be really sensitive to your system. If you still have issues after the RMA got for overclocks and RAM.

 

Grey-black lines on boot screen instead of HP logo or windows loading animation.

I started using Win 10 from the very beginning. Recently I updated my OS to
Win 10, v1607(Build 14393.105). Then the problem started. Each time I start/reboot my notebook, a
grey-black lined screen appears instead of HP logo or windows loading animation. Otherwise, windows starts normally.

I really don't know if this is any serious problem. But, it's kinda disturbing to see that every time.

My notebook is HP 450 G1, core i5-4200M, 8GB RAM, BIOS HP v1.40(3/5/16).
