Windows 10: Grey block covering start menu

Theres this weird block covering the start menu, I click it and it goes away, last I checked I havent downloaded any corrupted files, or messed with the system files. When I click it the little camera icon falls down too, making me think its a bug with a portion of the display coming too far up and causing disruptions. I wish I had more info but I cant say I know anything more.

Cortana causing greyed out start menu

Or i should say blocking Cortana causes my start menu to be greyed out. (re-blocking it after creator update)

But what i fail to understand is the logic of why blocking such a completely optional program would be programmed to cause such a catastrophic failure of a fairly useful and needed part of the OS. So is there a workaround or maybe a fix planned to account
for this abnormality and not grey it out ?

Windows 10 Start menu is empty

Hi. Steps 1 and 2 didn't do much but step 3 has restored what looks like the list of original Microsoft apps but no sign of any of the many apps I have installed. And there are no tiles in the start menu. Any suggestions please?

 

Grey Thing Covers the Menu When I Start Typing

I am using Microsoft Windows 10 currently. Whenever I click on the Windows icon and begin typing something, the following happens:





This grey thing that covers the menu is very annoying. It goes away when I click on it, but sometimes, I unknowingly end up clicking some icon that is beneath this grey thing. Is there any way to fix this issue permanently? Would appreciate easy and quick
solutions. Thank you.
