Windows 10: Groove Music keeps flashing and then jumping to the top of the menu

Groove Music has just started showing a display problem.


About every 60 seconds, in the "My Music" section under Artists or Albums, the mouse and app display will briefly freeze, all artists\albums pictures will flash white and it will scroll itself to the top of the lists. This happens every 60 seconds and does not affect the playing of music. There is no discontinuation of audio, it's only the display. It's annoying when I am browsing artists or albums to see all icons flash white and then scroll to the top again.


No other apps are affected.


App version: 10.20092.1031.0


I have reset the app in Settings\Apps\Apps&Features\Groove\Advanced Options


I have closed the app and deleted the Database folder in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ZuneMusic_<random>\LocalState\


I have run the system file checker


The App is only using one physical drive for it's music files and that drive has 1TB of free space


I have uninstalled the app, rebooted Windows and installed it again from the MS Store


I have performed an in-place re-install of Windows 10 v20H2


I have other computers running v20H2 and they do not show this problem


I would like to avoid formatting my C drive and installing Windows again. None of the above troubleshooting steps have fixed it.


Can anyone offer anything new to try?

Groove Music keeps jumping to the top of the menu.

So I've been using Groove music lately, but it keeps doing this weird thing where about every minute, the menu jumps back to the top. It's not that big a deal, but I'd like to take care of it because it's a little annoying when I'm trying to scroll through
my music library. Any thoughts?

I would suggest you refer to the below steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

1. Press the Start Menu key and type in Settings and press enter.

2. Navigate to Apps > Apps & features.

3. Search Groove Music select to reveal the Advanced options then click.

4. Click Reset.

5. Follow the rest instructions.

6. Restart your computer, and when it boots up, check to see whether or not the problem has been resolved.

Groove Music Unable to Play Music

We'll try a different approach, we suggest that you reinstall Groove Music and see if it has the same issue. Follow the steps below on how to remove and reinstall Groove Music:

• Open Start menu, search for "PowerShell"
• Right-click the PowerShell shortcut and select "Run as administrator". Agree to the UAC prompt.
• Type/Copy paste Get-AppxPackage *zunemusic* | Remove-AppxPackage.
• Once that Groove Music has been uninstalled, launch Windows 10 Store.
• Type/Search for Groove Music and install.
