Windows 10: Groove Music not working after 1809 Update, invalid value for registry.

After my 1st generation Surface Pro successfully upgraded to 1809, I did an update to 1809 via USB stick that I created via the Media Creation tool on my main desktop PC yesterday.


However, when I try to play my music on my desktop, Groove won't start at all. Not even showing a splashscreen and then closing again. When I click the Groove tile in the Start menu, a white bar briefly appears at the bottom of the tile and disappears (as if Groove was downloading/installing).


I tried to reset Groove in the App settings with no effect. With the uninstall button greyed out, I removed the Microsoft.ZuneMusic Package via the Remove-AppXPackage Powershell command, and reinstalled Groove via the store.


When I double click on an MP3 file, I get an error with the path to the MP3 file and the message about an "invalid value for registry" (I'm using a German Windows 10, and the error message is "Ungültiger Wert für Registrierung")


When I go to the settings to change the default app, I try to change the default Music Player app for the "Windows Media Player", and that "crashes" the Settings app.


I then deleted the Registry entry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Families\Microsoft.ZuneMusic_8wekyb3d8bbwe


Then re-installing Groove from the store. The registry entry was re-created, and I was now able to change the default Music Player App to Windows Media Player and back to Groove.


I ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth, both ending successfully with no corruption found.


However, I still can't launch Groove, and still get the Invalid value for registry error when I double click on a MP3.


I don't know if it's related, but the MSN Weather app also won't install properly. Groove at least seems to have finished downloading and installing, whereas MSN Weather rolls back the progress bar a bit, and then tries to install again, and again and again.


Is it possible to get Groove and MSN Weather to work properly, without a clean reinstall?

invalid value for registry

Whenever I try to open up one of my mp3 files, the "invalid value of registry" will pop up and it wont let me play it. Don't know what the issue is. Also, I don't know if this could be related, but my groove app won't open. Every time I click on it, nothing
happens. Please help, thanks.

 

Groove Music

I am not able to access the groove music,when I click on the file nothing is responding ,When I click on music file(.mp3) it prompts invalid value for registry.

today i got a problem of invalid value for registry when i try to access music, video and pictures...even i can open the start menu and search box...i tried all the solutions you provide ago but it doesnt work for me...even my STORE is also not working...pls
provide some solution asap...i am using windows 10(genuine)...
