Windows 10: Group by date in download...

Hi there, hopefully someone can help as both google and MS forums have proven incredibly unhelpful...

I'm really annoyed by the grouping in the downloads folder, have no idea what fumes MS were high on when they decided to make this feature preapplied, but it's the best anti-drug PSA I've ever seen. In the 1809 build I believe, when they first preapplied this mess to the downloads folder, the fix were easy though I needed to put it down several times, one for each manner of entering the downloads folder (on for getting from the task bar, one for going from pinned folder, one for going through the folder three etc).

Now, running 1909, and it's no longer that "simple", every time I enter the folder it has reverted to grouped by date, and no amount of tweaking around seem to adjust it. guessing this mess is set somewhere in gp or registry by default and I just don't know where, so can't kill it...

Anyone know how to go about this? Halfway ready to downgrade to windows 7 just to rid myself of the annoyance >.<

Grouping pictures by month or actual date in Windows 10

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to follow the below steps for sorting the pictures in date wise and check if it helps.

• Go to “file explorer” and open it.
• Right click on the picture screen.
• Click on “group by” option and go to more options.
• Check the box “Date” and click on “Ok”

Downloads Folder - Grouping by Date Modified

Thanks for answering so quickly. Unfortunately, this did not help. It changed the view in File Explorer, which I had already done by changing the Grouping to 'none'. When I followed the steps you mentioned, the view in Explorer went back to grouping
by date modified, and I had to change it back to grouping by 'none' again. The problem I am having is when saving a file. In File Explorer, it groups alphabetically, in Save As, it groups by date modified. I want it to group alphabetically. This is File
Explorer ...





As you can see, it groups alphabetically. Then there is Save As ...





Both are grouped differently. I can't see how to change this.

 

Date separator in Downloads folder

Details, like it's always been, changed it to List and the sorting is worse, and the separators remain. And this only affects the downloads folder, Documents, Desktop, and other default folders don't show this.





Oh you said Group By, read that wrong. Date Modified, if i change it to Name or something else the date separators are still there.
