Windows 10: Guinness book of records - Can't get Chrome browser to work !!

Hi there

I'm going to apply to the Guinness Book of Records as I must be the only person on Planet Earth who can't get the GOOGLE CHROME browser to work on the latest version of Windows (W10 PRO X64 with all updates etc)

It just sticks forever in a "Wait"

Have uninstalled and re-installed several times. Amazing as I've got the browser to work on every other device I've ever tried it on.

I wanted it because of the Googlecast where I could cast the Audio output from the PC to the chromecast device. My remote TV speakers are much better than the local laptop ones -- I can stream standard Audio but I wanted to stream Internet radio which is another issue entirely. The Chrome browser does work for that (I've tested it on another PC).

(The standard tunein audio feed directly on the chromecast doesn't stream HD Audio streams or FLAC - my server will decode the audio streams which can then be picked up with the chromecast dongle -- but all bets are off if I can't get Chrome Browser to work !!).

Fall Creators Update requires Restart to Finish installing

I have reinstalled the update 15 times on three separate computers and still get the "restart required". One is a new laptop several months old. I shall try for the Guinness Book of Records for the most failed updates on 3 separate computers. Be it know

Thanks for all the suggestions, but now I have the best of two worlds. After 13 failed tries on 10/28/2017, Microsoft has given up, and sends me only updates for version 1703. The only question remaining is: will 50 failed attempts put me in the Guinness
Book of Records?

 

When uninstalled, have you also deleted the profile?

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\

Have you tried Google Chrome Portable?

 

Hi there

I restored the backup I took last night and then tried to re-install chrome -- this time it worked

I must have hosed something up -- no idea what though.

All working now.
