Windows 10: Hacked camera

It’s weird but I think somebody is using my laptop camera to spy because my device sometimes turns on when I’m away. A few weeks ago I was watching a film and then decided to play a game so I paused the film. But all of a sudden my laptop stated to reproduce the film. The other day Nvidia turned the camera on without my desire. What is going on and can I stop it?

IP cameras as Spambots

What a fucking joke. Some friends were suggesting that I put internet connected cameras in my home to improve security, but I said no for exactly this kind of reason. It would be totally unacceptable for some random hacker over the internet spying on me in my own home by hacking my camera.

settings to see if the camera access is turned on. Kindly follow the steps below to check the camera privacy settings:

• Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
• Near the top of the Settings app window is the search box, kindly type the word "webcam" or "camera".
• From the list of results choose Camera privacy settings.
• Make sure that "Let apps use my camera" toggle is set to On.

You can try these steps and see if it will make any difference:

• Power cycle

1. Turn off the phone then remove the back cover and the battery.

2. Reinsert the battery and the back cover then turn on your phone.

• Reset your camera settings

1. Go to Settings.

2. Swipe to Application settings.

3. Choose Photos+camera.

4. Select Reset camera.
