Windows 10: Hackers claim to have cracked Microsoft's software licensing protection almost entirely

A team of hackers claim that they have cracked "almost the entire Windows / Office software licensing protection". The breakthrough allows them to activate "almost any version of Windows and Office" permanently.

Windows and Office installations require activation. This may happen behind the scene or when users enter product keys.

Workarounds and hacks have been available for a long time. One popular choice requires running a single line of instructions from a PowerShell prompt to activate Windows 8 or later, or Office.

The creators of the solution claim now that they have found ways to extend this to even more Windows and Office products.

The new method works on any Windows client or server version and includes Extended Security Updates (ESU) and Microsoft Customer Specific Volume License Keys (CSVLK).

The method used up until now could not activate everything permanently. The following Windows versions, editions, and license-types are now supported for the first time:

• Windows 7
• Windows 8 and 8.1
• Windows Server (any recent version).
• Add-ons.
• Extended Security Updates.

The hack enables support for Windows 10 ESU, once it starts in October 2025 among other things.

The hackers claim that the discovered method is simple. It does not require third-party file installations or system file modifications according to a post on X.

An example screenshot of a fully, permanently activated version of Windows with Extended Security Updates has been shared as part of the post.

The methods have worked for years, according to one of the follow-up posts. The hackers claim that the digital license (HWID) method worked since 2018 and the KMS method for at least 17 years.

The discovered hack will be made available in the coming months, according to the original post on X.

The discovery is a serious blow for Microsoft, provided that the hack is indeed as foolproof and easy to apply as claimed. It is unclear how, or if, Microsoft will react to the hack. For now, it seems that the hackers have, at least temporarily, won the battle.

Microsoft software protection platform (sppsvc) any other fixes for this?

Microsoft Software Protection Platform Service is a technology that is aimed at helping prevent piracy and protect customers from software tampering while making licensing easier to manage.
Try to disable the SvcRestartTask command. Here's how:

1. Click the Start menu button, type scheduled task and open Scheduled tasks.
2. Enter Task Scheduler Library, then Microsoft,
   Windows, and finally SoftwareProtectionPlatform.
3. Right-click on SvcRestartTask, and choose Disable.
4. In case there are two or more such processes, delete the duplicates.

backup protected dvds

I want to create backup copies of my favorite DVD collections and I tried Nero but it said that the DVDs are protected. I tried looking for another software and I found this list of DVD copy software that claimed to be the best for copying protected DVDs. I need a feedback from someone who has tried using any of these software before I'll buy one. I just want to make sure so I can burn my DVDs and not my money. If you have any other suggestions or recommendations I would really appreciate it.

 

How cracked software that activates windows using digital license work?

Hi I have a pc and I have activated it with a cracked digital license and last week I formated my whole ssd and I installed a fresh windows os but when I Connected my windows to the internet it got activated with my old cracked digital lisence now I know that Microsoft servers check pcs and there digital lisence based on the components of the pc and check if it's activated or not but this is a cracked software which it usually changes the registry key to make windows think it's activated with a genuine license but how does it still activates with the cracked digital license AFTER I FORMATED MY WHOLE SSD?!! to be sure I even secure erased my ssd and filled it with zeros to leave no trace of that software at all and IT STILL GETS ACTIVATED after I installed windows and connected it to the internet.. All I can think is either the cracked software hacked Microsoft to make me a digital lisence or it has implanted a code into my bios or other sections of my pc cause I have secure erased my ssd multiple times and it keeps getting activated with my cracked digital license if thats the case than it probably has viruses with the code as well. can you please help me how that cracked digital license managed to keep my windows activated even after 2 times of full secure eraseing and formating my SSD??

Now I'm concerned about that cracked software implanting viruses(cracked softwares have viruses mostly) with the code that activates my windows in my bios or somewhere else and I want to know how the cracked software works in order to be sure and also reset my bios if needed

P.S I also have heard that it uses some sort of algorithm that makes Microsoft servers think that the cracked digital license is genuine..
