  1. HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED and Preparing Automatic Repair loop

Last night I was using my computer to play LEGO Marvel's Avengers via Steam. I stopped to do something else but left my computer on, and when I came back the screen was blue and displayed a message saying "HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED" and then it restart. Now whenever it boots up it says Preparing Automatic Repair and displays options to fix my computer which apparently didn't start up properly. I've tried countless methods to fix the computer (boot in safe mode, chkdisc, restore to a save point, etc.) but to no avail. This Preparing Automatic Repair loop has happened to me at least 6 times in the past few weeks and I'm getting sick of wiping my files and reinstalling Windows. (Note: last night was the first time its displayed the HAL thing; it usually only gets stuck in a repair loop without warning). I really hope there is someone here who can help me sort out this mess.

If you need any further information, feel free to ask in a reply.

    Thanks for your time
    ~Les

    Preparing automatic repair loop

My Asus laptop is stuck in "preparing automatic repair". The notice comes up on the screen, then the laptop shuts down, repeatedly. The changes I made before this happened - I disabled AOL at startup, and uninstalled Candycrush and Solitaire. I do not
have any windows media to use for reinstallation and I'm not that computer savvy. Help!

  5. Yes, I've tried all of the methods outlined in multiple articles and posts. Nothing seems to work except a full reinstall of Windows which deletes all of my files and only works for about a week before it gets stuck in the loop again. Thanks for trying though.
