    Hard disk failure is imminent.


    When starting my computer I sometimes get a message that Hard Disk Failure Imminent. Please back up your hard disk and have it replaced. Press F10 for Setup. F2 to continue. The first time I got this screen it clicked on F2 and Windows opened and all seemed fine. Now I have the same black screen with same message but when clicking on F2, the computer does nothing. I have not back up my hard disk. What can I do to save this situation or am I just out of luck?

    Windows 10 upgrade problem...Hard Disk Failure Imminent!

    As suggested I have waited 7 days and rerun Chkdsk on my problem Samsung laptop again (22Oct2016). It again took 5 hours to run and spent much of that time stuck at 11% complete. No more bad clusters found (I think), but the computer is still issuing
    imminent hard disk failure warnings and running slowly.

    I also tried the Samsung utility, but the 2008 website sent me to Seagate which did not accept the serial numbers from the back of my computer. I tried to find alternatives unsuccessfully?

    Not sure what to do now; can I repair this hard disk? If so how?

    I have now run Chkdsk on my problem Samsung laptop. It took 5 hours to run and spent much of that time stuck at 11% complete.
    Once it finished the computer started OK, but came up with the warning of imminent disk failure within a few minutes. I downloaded a 15-day trial of Treesize personal (no free version was available) to obtain the Chkdsk report. Links to the latest Chkdsk
    report and a report for the previous ChkDsk run on 9Sep (the previous one that also took many hours to run and initiated the disk failure warnings) are at the following links.

    Hard disk drive imminent failure message - Windows 10

    Hi all,

    received the dreaded message, backed up everything, made a repair disk, attempted to create a mirror to make things easier once installing a new hard drive.

    Couldnt create the mirror because of I/O error. Formatted an external HD after checking to make sure was working properly. Same problem so expecting it to be the internal HD (given the imminent HD failure message) and went searching google for solutions.
    Ended up doing a CHKDSK/r.

    It has been stuck at 'scanning and repairing drive (cHard disk failure is imminent. :): 12% complete' for 24 hours. The dots above the message are spinning like it's trying to repair. (This is not a stage 3 or 4 like I've seen in numerous posts....it hasn't gotten stage 1 as far as I
    can tell)

    Thinking of giving up but have no control of the keyboard to even attempt anything.

    Help please.
