  1. Hard Drive query

I have just done a clean re-install of Windows 10 and, before I started I disconnected all of the drives other than the 'C' drive as is recommended.

However, when I came to re-connect the drives I just cannot get the internal one to show up in the directory. It also cannot be seen in Macrium Reflect. This is the drive that I use for all my data and everything that I do is saved to that disk. Fortunately I have reflect set up to do a daily backup of this drive and so I am not overly concerned at the moment.

I'm just wondering if there is anything else that I can do to get the drive to come to life again.

    many thanks.

P.S. I have just spotted that it is appearing in the Windows Device Manager but I cannot access it still/

    :)

  2. System Recovery - Question

    Hi Jerry,

With regard to your query, creating a System Image and backing up a system to recovery drive is different.

If you will back up a system to a recovery drive, it will restore the computer to the original factory condition, but it will not restore user installed programs or user data.

If you will create a System Image, it will allow creating a full hard drive backup to a separate hard drive. It will also allow restoring the complete hard drive back to how it was when the last backup was created. It includes the Operating System and installed
    programs and all user data.

Doing a second recovery depends on the size of your external hard drive but it will not overwrite the first recovery if you have a partition.

Let us know if it answered your query.

    Regards.

  3. HARDRIVE

    Hello Thaddeus,

We do understand that you would like to replace the hard drive. We will help you regarding this.

I would like to inform that you cannot move the OS to new hard drive.

You will have to install the OS in the new hard drive and then you can copy your files from old hard drive to new hard drive.

You may also create system image of the device and install it in new hard drive.

If you have any further queries, feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  5. Hi again NavyLCDR, Whilst the disk is appearing in the device manager, it is not showing in the Disk management. Sorry

In the Device manager page it is shown as 'The device is working properly'

If you open a Command Prompt (Admin) and run:

    diskpart
    list disk

    Does it show up there?

    Hi,

Download and install the latest AMD Chipset drivers for your system. While most may install, may be the Standard SATA AHCI Controller wouldn't install. Manually install it following the procedure outlined by robwiljas in his post here AMD SATA Controller Windows 10 Driver | Community

  8. Hard Drive query

The system is telling me that the correct drivers are installed. However, I then went through the procedure shown in the link and nothing changed and I still get the message that the correct drivers are already installed.

Does the Device Manager show it as "AMD SATA Controller" under "IDE ATA\ATAPI Controllers"?

Can you please post a screenshot to confirm it?

  11. No it shows as Standard SATA AHCI Controller. I tried to change it when doing the process via the link provided but didn't get the option.

However, the crisis is now over as when I decided to restart the computer and have a look in the BIOS, the restart took quite a while installing the updates and then when it had rebooted all of the drives were showing as normal. I didn't need to go into the BIOS anyway.

Apologies for taking up the time of those who replied but, I offer my considerable thanks anyway for the help.
