  1. Hard Drives corruption and errors

So I had my computer unused for about a year it having two harddrives one HDD one SSD the ladder having the operating system. After starting it up again two days ago everything worked like it used to I had restarted it many times that day so it wasn't a hardware issue. But after updating windows the startup wanted to do a dskchk and I let it. But after that it tried to repair windows which was odd since it was fine yesterday but I let it. Then after that it started and it had shown windows 7 bu I had no control with my mouse or keyboard so I restarted again and it started on windows 7 instead of 10 like yesterday. So I restarted opened the boot menu on startup and there were 3 options, the HDD the SSD and one blank option with no description that I hadn't seen before. So then I tried to boot the SSD only for it to open windows 10 recovery black screen, recovery, and memory diagnostic tool as three options when I tried windows 10 recovery it said something about signatures and gave me an error code I didn't write down and recovery said the same thing. Windows Memory diagnostic tool when started, ran and found no errors in whatever it checked so I tried the blank boot option, THEN did it actually start windows 10 but, my HDD was corrupted and I couldn't move any files to it like I could yesterday. I had to format it to fix it. But my SDD still has errors according to the error checking thing next to optimize and defragment drive. I tried error checking it said to restart to repair drive and I did but when it started the SSD it was still on windows recovery and recovery black error screen. So I booted the blank boot option again and then it started "checking and repairing" C: which it didn't because it still had errors. I checked my samsung magician to see that on the over partitioning section it said a volume is corrupted. I don't currently have access to my windows key usb to do a windows repair. And system restore didn't work because it said there was an internal error. I've tried everything I could think of but nothing fixes the issues I'm facing, the only destruction left in the wake of these windows updates are that every time I start my computer I have to open the boot menu and choose the weird blank option every time, and I can no longer over partition my SSD in samsung magician. However I'm concerned over my harddrive being in a corrupted state or eventually becoming like my HDD where I can no longer move any files to it until I would have to format it which I can't because I don't have my windows USB. So there's the shortened version of the events that took place.

How can I fix my OS harddrive without a windows usb?

    :)

  2. CANNOT DELETE A CORRUPTED FILE ON MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE ON WINDOWS 10

    Hi Leenus,

Hard drive and other external memory storage can be corrupted on account of bad sectors which are no longer accessible or writable due to permanent damage. Your device or hard drive could also be infected by some type of malware. These are some of the possible
causes why you are experiencing the error "ERROR 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". To address this concern, we suggest performing the following troubleshooting methods:

    Method 1

Check and repair disk errors or corrupted file system. This process can fix "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error caused by bad sectors, virus infection or file system corruption. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Back up all of the files on the hard drive (except for the corrupted file).
    • Using Search, type CMD.
    • From the search results, right-click on Command Prompt and then choose Run as administrator.
    • On the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk /f h: (h stands for your hard drive) and then hit the Enter key.
    • Delete the corrupted file and check if you'll experience the same error.

    Method 2

Format the hard drive. You can manually format the hard drive to permanently remove "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error. These are the steps on how to format an external drive:

    • Plug the hard drive into your computer.
    • Back up all of the files on the hard drive (except for the corrupted file).
    • Open File Explorer and then click This PC.
    • Click the external hard drive's name, click on Manage tab and then click on Format.
    • Click Start and then click OK.

Keep us updated with the result.

    Hard Drives corruption and errors

    Hard drive error

    Hi,

This issue could be due to corrupted system file(s), faulty Hard disk drive or
no power to the drive. We would like to know some information to better isolate the issue:

    • Have you done any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
    • Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting hard drive's SATA cable and power cable?
    • Have you tried running CHKDSK command? CHKDSK command scans disk for errors.
    • What type of disk drive are you using?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

We will wait for your response.
