Hardware Volume Control and Windows Notification

    Hi all,

By now i'm sure you've all seen this volume display in Windows 8-10

From what I can work out, this is a volume display designed for tablets and notebooks that use hardware to alter volume.

That is all good when using a tablet, but not for a PC. Speaking plainly, it's annoying, and I want it gone.

I have a Logitech keyboard with SetPoint installed, with which I can turn off any volume notifications, however, once in a while it doesn't load on start-up and I am once again greeted with this little gremlin on my screen.

I want to turn it off so it never again shows up, but I can't for the life of me work out how. I've tinkered with various volume settings, and ease of access controls, but nothing works.

I know there must be a registry option for this somewhere but I'm not quite that good with PC's yet to attack my registry lol. So i'm hoping some wise soul here knows how to combat this and rid my system of it for good.

As i've mentioned there are ways around it, but I would prefer a clear fix to turn it off for good, I should be allowed that function after all, don't you think?

Thanks for your time. Any questions then please ask.

    :)

  2. volum control for music and video for windows phone app

There is no software volume control. the only way to adjust the volume is via the dedicated hardware buttons.

if you're looking for a quick way to adjust the vibrate/ring settings, that is controlled with the screen.

it may be possible to adjust the volume via a headset, or AVRCP Bluetooth.

screen based volume controls may come with the notification centre rumoured for WP8.1, but there hasn't been much released on that yet (expected April....)

  3. Notification volume control

Hi Muhammad. I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year WIndows MVP here to help you.

You can always express your views directly to the developers in the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu. They do not see them here which is a volunteer tech forums.

I am able to control the volume on my notifications along with the rest of the PC"s volume from the Volume icon in bottom right System Tray. Are you saying that you want it to be separate volume for the notifications than what you want set for whatever you're
    doing? That makes sense.

Have you tried right clicking the Volume icon to open the Volume Mixer? There you can adjust System Sounds separately from overall volume. It may not work for all functions you want separate volume level for what you're doing from the notifications volume level,
but it is worth a try.

And please do let Microsoft know how you feel about this. If you want to post back a link to your Feedback so others who see this thread can vote it up or add their feedback, please feel free to do so. By titling your thread properly with the issue it will
attract others looking for how to deal with this issue.

I will also monitor the issue and try to advocate for it via MVP Communications channels. I hope this helps. Keep us posted on your progress.
