Hi, and first thank you MS

Preface: I am very meticulous of what is installed and services running on my machine. I have been since Windows 95/98.

After this week's update I am personally, with no settings changed or new/foreign programs running, noticing large lag times in certain activities.

    Such as:

Opening/closing browsers (startup time has lessened, even page access time has lessened)

Timed Defender Scans (slower than times before update)

Extreme framedrops in games (more than normal, almost a freeze)

Sometimes even a slight keyboard input lag (you can feel it like a rollercoaster)

Opening 'Settings' has lost access speed.

Mouse input has been getting stuck during loads of applications etc.

You might send me on one of those troubleshooting wild goose chases. But I hope I can make it clear before you do, I am very sensitive to changes like this and aware of what is running on my computer and what I access on the internet.

    This machine is a 6gen Intel processor and a 1060 with 16gb ram 1tb ssd 500r/w.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

    :)

    Hi Ron,

It's really odd for your computer to experience a performance issue (slowness/lag) after each and every update, hence, it should improve your computer's performance. There could be some software that's causing the issue, or an outdated driver/s. That said,
we suggest that you check if following the steps on this article to improve the performance of your computer
    will work.

Let us know if you're able to determine the culprit after following the steps on the said article.

    Random lag spikes

    Hi,

We would like to know more about your lag issue:

    • What browser are you using when you experience a lag?
    • Does the lag occur in a particular game?

In the meantime, we suggest you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. Here are the steps:

    • Press Windows Key + X.
    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • On the left pane, click on View All.
    • Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.

    Looking forward to your response.

Has it been confirmed by MS that Update KB4493464 is slowing/lagging machines?

Do windows updates slow down the computer?

its not windows 10 bill.. it can work fine as in my case.. until the next the next six monthly full update iteration.. then it gets borked.. each new update borked a new list of machines..

MS must be fully aware of this.. hence my comment that its deliberate.. you can say all the nice things you like but i aint gonna change my mind.. he he

let me put things simply.. ms has no right to deliberately bork perfectly good (but older) machine.. but that is exactly what they are doing.. and they are fully aware of it..
