I can hear Cortana but Cortana does not hear me. And when attempting to use the Zoom app I am muted there. I hear other participants but they do not hear me. Trouble shooting says mic not plugged in. Unfortunately, I am not particularly computer literate and have difficulty maneuvering this issue. Anyone willing to wade in? I selected Windows as category.

    Microphone issues

    Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

    • Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
    • Corrupted or outdated driver
    • Faulty device

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
    • Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
    Geethu B's on this
    link.

We're looking forward to your reply.

    Lapel vs desktop microphone

Isn't the way to mitigate audible level issues on a desktop microphone, by using phantom power?

In terms of wireless microphone with headset, I haven't found any.

    @Kursah

I was aiming at this or something very similar

How far away did you use Samsung GO Mic? If I clip to top of my monitor (IF it's thin enough bezel), I'd still be about three feet away. It seems as most whom use these microphone's are really close and I don't want to be that near it.
