Got it to work, except not exactly as indicated
I f I use the whole line including the output report, Get an error that it doesn't seem to find powercfg, but it is in in System32.
So I started stripping code from the right going left, i.e the C:/ output. That didn't work either.
Next from the right was the -output, so I stripped that and got a report into windows\system 32.
Going to look at it after I write down the summary of errors.
    Summary- efficiency problems found
    3 errors
    2 warnings
    26 informational
I will post report retails shortly

So if I can figure out how to attach the file, you will set a multi-page report; I copied it into Notepad as a text file.energy-report nov 12 2017.txt

Interesting... One thing that I haven't done yet is what the last (confusing) rep said... try to update the two drivers (AC adapter and the 'battery one', and if they are both already updated, delete the battery one. Seems illogical, maybe might it trigger a battery 'fix'? a new item appearing? what are the dangers?

  6. Nice, a husky. Bet she is finally enjoying the weather.

    How to images and files

How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

Yesterday you and I checked your drivers. They are the most recent. Of course simple to try, find device, right click, click update driver.

You might want to uninstall device, right click, click uninstall but keep software. Then reboot or scan for new hardware. (Scan for new hardware is under Action along menu bar. )

Can you refresh my memory, I know it is Asus, what model. Want to check support site.

She is definitely enjoying the colder weather, even goes out and sleeps in snow. The energy report was posted in #31 above. If you can't read the file I'll re-send it I don't see any uninstall options, neither on the 'Battery' device nor on the two drivers. I may need to reboot to get administrator setting to work. Going to have a quick bite before I try that. Given all the effort you have put in, I tried giving another thumbs up, but looks like there are restrictions on how many in a period of time. But it is all appreciated.

So I have now tried the process of removing a driver under Batteries in Device Manager; I chose to uninstall the 2nd one with 'battery' in its name. The kept one says 'AC Adapter'. When I did that that second line disappeared. I rebooted, and voila..... the second driver was right back where it was. Oh, woe is me...
    No mas for tonite.

  10. Looked over energy report. Hopefully zbook will look to.

Your errors seem to stem from the fact you don't have the screen shutting off or the machine going to sleep to save power. Is that correct?

The third one is an incompatibility that I seen before with no real answer. Don't believe this is your issue.

Notice the battery section. There were numbers along the line of zbook's posting. Design was 56160 but last full charge only got to 39992.

Checked out Asus site. No power mgmt files there that I could recognize. There was a BIOS dated 2015/01/15 V203. Do you know your BIOS version? Not saying to update, just understand if there is a delta.

Did you make any customizations in BIOS?

    In f/u to Ken's comments:
    The report:
    <td class="detail-name">BIOS Date</td><td>09/26/2014</td></tr><tr><td class="detail-name">BIOS Version</td><td>G771JM.202</td>

    Please update the BIOS to:

The information in the txt was not easy to read. Any chance you have the HTML version?

    <td><span class="detail-name">Battery ID</span></td><td> ASUSTeKN551-52</td></tr><tr><td><span class="detail-name">Manufacturer</span></td><td>ASUSTeK</td>

    <td><span class="detail-name">Last Full Charge</span></td><td>39992</td>

    The battery information was incomplete.
It did not display design capacity.
One of my computers has a dead battery so a energy-report.html was done on one with a good battery to compare to the one with the dead battery.

    HP
    good battery:

Design Capacity 65520 Last Full Charge 65520
    HP
    dead battery:

    Design Capacity 16250
    Last Full Charge 16250

This is the information in the Asus report:
    Design Capacity 56160
    Last Full Charge 39992

Difference between design capacity and last full charge 16,168
    Approximate charge (full charge/design capacity = 71%)

So if it cannot get above a 71% charge that appears to be a faulty battery.

For my computers the data displays the design capacity matching the last full charge on both the good and bad batteries. So I don't know why the data methods differ on the different computer models.

So these were the findings in the report:
    1) hardware incompatibility?
    2) BIOS needs updating
    3) Faulty battery based on full charge/design capacity of 71%

Checked my BIOS version: American Megatrend 202 5.5.1025 F02S090001 Have never mad changes on this computer, probably wouldn't know how without reading about it. But I did run ASUS update recently and it offered nothing.
Clarification on sleep and power: if I'm working on computer, it's always plugged in, and figured I didn't need it to be shutting off, which it seems to do especially when a program is running w/o keyboard use, e.g. Windows update.
So it looks like a battery buy is recommended, and I need to figure out how to do BIOS update.

OK, 1st- I tried outputting (twice) the report to HTML, but got errors
2nd- need a new battery, if you know of reputable on-line dealers would appreciate names; so far
seems like a reasonable price range is approx. $70
3rd- curious about the point made in report : PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer
    4th- need to upgrade BIOS
Need more than 24 hours in my day, or more days in the week (lol).
Thanks all, hopefully these steps will succeed.
