Windows 10: Haven't been able to update Windows for 5 years.

I am unable to update windows. Any attempt on restart tells me to try again, trouble shooting will feedback an issue but unable to fix it. Scans and fixes in the CMD find problems but haven't been able to fix them. If specific details are needed I'm open to attempt sorts of fixes and scans as I've exhausted everything I could find short of a physical technician. While I don't know the problem I know this all started back when I was rooting around in files I shouldn't have been trying to get some foreign software to work. I recall being told to delete something and from that point on after 10mi

Notifocation of W-10 update genuine? Freezes computer, can"t verify.

Can you or anyone suggest a way to remove the virus? Haven;t been able to enter safe mode. I did trya windows repair program called system restore, which failed at two restore points.

 

Vista Pre-SP1 vs. Vista SP1

I've been Windows Updating for two straight days and I finally saw SP1. If you want to troubleshoot it, follow these steps:

• Show hidden updates
• Manually install any failed updates (google the KB_____ and install from the windows site)
• Make sure everything in Device Manager is good to go

I had to do step two for like 4 or 5 updates to be able to see SP1.

Any other benchmarks you guys want to see? I might try PCMark05 (I think it works on Vista).

Download MalwareBytes and run a Full scan then run a full scan with Defender
