Having problems since I got my laptop back from repair

I have an Asus X555UB laptop. The warranty is almost up on my laptop. I had been having problems with the sound on the laptop, it just went away and the laptop claimed it had no sound device installed...so I sent it off for repairs. They replaced my HDD and my laptop speakers, at least according to their invoice. I got my laptop back now and the sound issue appears to be fixed. However, I am no longer able to run any games on my laptop...games that I had been running previously, before I sent it off for repairs. One of these games is older (Black and White 2) and comes with a diagnostic tool which will tell you where your computer is not good enough basically to run the game. Before all was fine, now that the laptop is back, it claims that I have Zero..zip...nadda, Display Memory where the game requires 64 mb.

The laptop came with Windows 10 and when they installed my new HDD, they must have put an updated version of Windows 10 or a different version anyway to what I had previously as I have had all sorts of problems, mainly with security problems, having to change the name of files to get windows to open them. For video, I have Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 and also NVIDIA GeForce 940M. I have 8 gigs of Rame and a 1 TB Hard drive. Intel i5 processor...these are both older games and my computer ran both with ease before the repairs. What is going on here and is there anyway I can fix it?

    :)

  2. Since I got the laptop back I didn't get product key info or any codes back I can't access without product key.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Command Prompt (admin)

    Enter the following command:

    wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

    Hit Enter

Copy the product key then enter it

Click Start > Settings > Update & security
    > Activation > Change the product key then enter the new product key then click
    Next to Activate

My friends are always cautioning me to not take my laptop for repairs at a private company that is not the manufacturer of your laptop. Reason? Parts get exchanged and false repair is reported to the customer. I hope this reason is not your case; I am passing on what my friends keep saying. One possible reason for new non-functional features upon pick up.*Smile
I, too, have an Asus. I found out the parts are very old; actually it is a re-build. This angers me because I paid way too much (3x) for used equipment thinking it was new.
So, maybe Asus switched the parts.

At a guess, there's something messed up with the video drivers. Laptops with dual graphics (Intel and nVidia) may be prone to problems.

Maybe downloading and installing the latest drivers from Asus would help.

I don't think Windows 10 supports dual graphics without a Windows 10 compatible drier from the computer manufacturer. In the absence of a specific driver by the manufacturer, I think the user is stuck with disabling the APU - in this case Intel HD 520 and just using the discreet graphics full time.

@Ohoopee, have you tried doing a clean install of Windows 10 yourself?

Clean install every time the store and start stop. Yesterday...
Make sure your windows update is set to update drivers too. I had an Intel Graphics driver installed yesterday; first time I have EVER had updates from other than Microsoft!!
Also, be careful when updating drivers from Intel. I had a bad clone in the list of driver choices once!
Thanks for Asus info. I have totally neglected going there: my roomie is using my Asus, and it seems I have lost it. *sarc
