Windows 10: Having trouble resetting my PC Hard Reset

Hi! I am having trouble resetting my windows PC. Every time I have attempted to do a reset I have gotten the message "There was a problem resetting your PC, no changes were made." I tried the resetting it four times in a row and I keep getting the same message.


I than looked online for help and followed these instructions by putting this into the command promptWith Admin Privileges. When I type the last command it goes through but then I get a message that this process as already running and nothing could be changed. That's what everyone was recommending but it is not working and now i'm stuck.



cd %windir%\system32\config

ren system system.001

ren software software.001


If anyone knows how to fix this or knows another better to reset the pc I am happy to listen!

Wait did you mean hard reset as in pressing the reset button or Hard Reset the game?
