  1. HDD is detected in BIOS, but not in Windows

The HDD is detected in BIOS as it is showing its serial number, but anything else while booting, it is not detected.

I cannot get into Windows as the whole drive (drive CHDD is detected in BIOS, but not in Windows :) is corrupted. So, I am left with WinRE by using a Windows installation disk.

I tried every command I found online to fix the issue, but all I get is an error.

    > C:

The system cannot find the drive specified.

    > bootrec /fixmbr

The system cannot find the path specified.

    > echo list disk | diskpart

There are no fixed disks to show.

Upon booting up, it showed the manufacturer logo, but there were no spinning dots (loader).

How can I gain access to the HDD again? As much as possible, I don't want to lose even a single file.

    Computer specs:

    Type: Laptop

Make and Model: Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-33YP

CPU: Intel Core i3-6006U (2.0 GHz)

    RAM: 4GB DDR4

    HDD: 1 TB

OS: Windows 10 (but it got corrupted, though I also have a Windows 10 installation disk)

    :)

    BIOS. HDD not detected

    Hi guys,

I just replaced my PSU with Thermaltake Toughpower Gold 850W and when I powered on the system, the message in the beginning showed that my Boot device was not detected. So I did some quick search and the first thing I tried was to check whether all my hardwares were properly connected.
I found out that my first HDD bay power connector was broken off, so I moved all 3 of my HDD down by one slot. For example:
    Before:
    1. hdd#1
    2. hdd#2
    3. hdd#3
    4. empty
    5. empty
    After:
    1. empty
    2. hdd#1
    3. hdd#2
    4. hdd#3
    5. empty
After I have done the above, I turned on the power and it booted fine.
But I realized that hdd#2 and #3 were not detected in the window.
So I checked the bios and those two hdds were shown as "not detected"
I rebooted the system and this time, none of my hdds were detected.
Now after 3 days, the bios is still showing not detected for all hdds except for DVD-rom.

Please help....one of my hdd exploded during the process of swapping bay later on.
    Thanks,

    USB HDD: IN BIOS

Hi AJAY, in modern BIOS (UEFI) it is normal to have USB devices listed, such as USB HDD without drive being plugged in.

In older Legacy BIOS, a drive would have to be plugged in for it to be listed in BIOS, but not no londer . . .

HDD is detected in BIOS, but not in Windows

After upgrading to Windows 10 - 2nd and 3rd HDDs cannot be seen??????

    Hi,

What is the make and model of your computer?

I suggest you to check in BIOS setting whether both the HDD are listed there. You may get in touch with your computer manufacturer or refer to the user manual on how to enter BIOS settings.

If it is listed in BIOS, you may check whether you are able to see both the HDD in Disk Management. Follow the steps to check:

    Press Windows Key + X.

    Click on Disk Management.

Please reply us with the required information to assist you further.
