Windows 10: HDMI cord/picture and no sound on t.v.

A few days ago my power went out for a second and I happened to be using my HDMI cord to watch a movie. I have an HP Envy laptop about 6 mo. old. It was connected to my flat screen Toshiba t.v. about 5 years old. I'v never had a problem but this time, after the power went out for a second, the picture works, but there is no sound on the t.v. only. I have tried everything I could find to fix it. When I right click on sound icon and go to sound settings and make the Toshiba as default sound then there is no sound on either t.v. or laptop. Any ideas out there?

• What is the current build and version of your Windows 10?
• Have you tried to download and install the most updated sound and display driver of your computer?

Showing pictures on TV with HDMI cord


I had windows 7 professional, when I wanted to show video or pictures on my TV, I just plugged in an HDMI cord.
Today I tried to show pictures on my tv, I could see the picture that is on my desk top, at times the cursor showed, although it was on the wrong side of the screen, consequently worked backwards.
I could not see icons, nor pictures when I opened up the pictures?
what do i have to do for the pictures to show on my tv?

Is your Samsung T V shows in Device Manager?

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Mouse. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
