Windows 10: Head Phones No Longer Work.......

Since my last Windows 10 update from Microsoft, when I plug in my headphones, they no longer work - the laptop speakers are still on.


I looked in the sound section of settings, and the headphones do not show up any more - they used to. In fact, when I would plug in my headphones, I would get a dialog box show up letting me know that I have added them and asked me to click on them to activate. Now I get nothing.......


Can anyone help me to get my headphones back up and running - and my computer speakers to turn off when the headphones are being used?

Your list confirms my phone is eligible, Lumia 521. The windows Insider App fails after ~ 15 seconds, restores data and gives me error 80073cf9. I trouble shot this and went thru all the steps mentioned on several websites including MS without any luck. Short of a hard reset, this is where I am now. Suggestions appreciated.

Method 1:
Recording Audio troubleshooter

The built-in recording audio troubleshooter can automatically detect and fix most of the incorrect settings and errors that could cause issues with headphone or microphone. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if there is any
issue with the microphone. Refer top these steps:

          Open Control Panel
          
        • 
          Click on Troubleshooting and select the
          view all option on the left pane
          
        • 
          Click on Recoding Audio troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
          

Try method 2, if the issue persist



Method 2: If the Recording Audio troubleshooter do not fix the
issue then I would suggest you to follow the below mentioned steps to set the microphone as a default device:

      Right click on the “Sound icon” on the bottom right of the desktop screen
      
    • 
      Click on “Sounds”, click on “Recording”
      
    • 
      Right click on “Microphone” and then click on “Set as default device”
      
    • 
      Click on “Apply” and then “OK”

WEll i took on this project for PP hes a hardware reviewer and wants to get the professional looking pics for the Pc parts

Materials:

• Big cardboard box

• a razor

• white material 3 yards

• cone lights

• stapler

• medical tape

• pvc pipe about 6 inches longer than your box

• white paint any cheap finger paint would work

the project I'm guessing will cost me $30 if it works out properly
