Windows 10: Headphone Mic picking up device sounds

I recently started playing some online games like PUBG Lite, Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege etc., where people complained that they are getting echo from me.



So, just to make sure that it was me I started recording on the Vice Recorder app and simultaneously turned on a random song on Groove Music app and it really did record that song. Again I tried recording while playing a YouTube video simultaneously, and yes it did record that.


If you need it, I have Windows 10 Pro, Version: 10.0.1.18363 Build 18363 and I recently installed a Windows 10 update, version 1909.

Finally, I have a desktop with two 3.5mm jacks in front for mic and audio and two of them at the back along with an extra input which I don't knw the use for. I use a splitter to connect my headphones and my pc does NOT have any inbuilt speakers or microphones. Also when I connect my headphones to the rear jack the mic still picks up the sounds though their volume is lesser.

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

Mic not picking up sound!!!

Hi, i'm using windows ten and my usb mic is not picking up sound . The computer is picking up the mic itself but not any sound from the mic. I see the mic in my recording devices but the sound bar on the side is not showing activity when I speak into the
mic. In sound device properties, in events it says: Device USB\VID_0D8C&PID_0139&MI_00\6&3077f717&0&0000 requires further installation.

So that might be part of the problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Michael,

Your laptop's default mic is the currently enabled device, preventing you from using your headphone's mic. To use your headphone's mic, you need to enable it. To do so, kindly follow these steps:

• On the Sound properties (the current open windows of the screenshot that you gave), go to Recordings.
• Right-click your headphone's mic.
• Click Enable.

If you couldn't find your headphone's mic on the list, it must be hidden. To unhide it, right-click on your currently enabled mic and click
Show Disabled Devices.
