  1. Headphones into rear audio jack?

    Hello.

The headphone input on the front of my PC is broken and I cannot use it anymore. No big deal I thought, I'll plug my headphones into the rear audio jack. Well... that ends up being a massive issue somehow. The back inputs seem to be coded differently, which makes the headphone volume and "oomph" much lower than it was. My audio driver Realtek has a button that supposedly lets you change what the inputs are for, but they are greyed out and no amount of clicking or right-clicking makes it actually do anything. Everything within Windows says "speakers" and nothing I have found says how to change that.

Is there ANY way to change the rear audio input to headphones? I can't believe I'm the first person in history to want/need to plug their headphones into the back.

    Thanks.

    :)

Rear audio ports always show as “Not plugged in”

I've been having this issue with Windows for about a week now which NONE of the back panel/front panel connectors (speakers, microphone) are being recognized by Realtek audio manager. The only audio input/outputs that are showing are the optical.
Troubling shooting steps I've tried (none worked):

    • COMPLETELY uninstall all Realtek drivers/reinstall
    • Tried using windows drivers
    • Reinstall Windows 10
    • Upgraded chipset driver
    • sfc /scannow
I called EVGA and asked for RMA but then I booted into a Ubuntu OS and all the ports work FINE. It must be a problem with windows 10.
Can you think of any other troubling shooting step I can try to fix this annoying issue? Thanks!

After looking in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs, I don't see any speaker/microphone listings, only the optical crap:

i would also recommend looking at the Audio Technica m50s if this is your first step into audiophile headphones.

most of the cans you listed will also need an amp to push them.

  4. Headphones into rear audio jack?

Rear audio jack is very quiet with headphones plugged in

My front audio jack broke so now I'm trying to use my rear audio jack to plug my headphones into. Windows is detecting the headset as
Speakers "High Definition Audio Device" and it is set to the default device. I've gone through everything the windows troubleshooter has recommended and all that's on the Microsoft website about fixing audio. I believe that the problem is that
Windows is detecting my headphones as speaker. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
